On the function selecting area, a function setting menu is displayed in one display mode among an icon mode in which only a group of icons are displayed, a regular mode in which a group of icons and a group of texts are displayed, and an express mode in which a group of icons, a group of texts and a group of function setting buttons are displayed. In the icon mode, detailed preview information is displayed on a large preview area, and in the express mode, detailed function selecting information is displayed on a large function selecting area.

The present subject matter describes processing of objects for imaging in an imaging system. In an example implementation, a visual image of a plurality of objects disposed on an imaging bed of the imaging system is generated. A visual image of the imaging bed divided into a plurality of imaging zones is generated. Each of the plurality of objects are identified within a respective imaging zone from the plurality of imaging zones. Each of the plurality of imaging zones are assigned a corresponding imaging operation, where the imaging operation is one of a scan&print operation and a scan-only operation.

The touch-panel display displays a preview image in a designated orientation for a document of a prescribed size, and displays a preview image in accordance with size and orientation of recording paper fed from the paper feed unit, for a document not of the prescribed size. Parts of underlying sheets which parts become visible in the realistic preview image are determined and their content and physical properties are determined and incorporated into the realistic preview image.

A method of automatically producing a book is disclosed. The book is generated from a database of source content items. As an example, a content item may be a cookery recipe. Typically, the source content items have been created for presentation on the web. The method includes the steps of processing the source content items to create publishable content items, allowing the user to select content items according to criteria, and then iteratively applying templates to the selected content items to optimize a print layout associated with each content item. The print layouts may be composed into a book, which may be automatically printed and sent to the user or to the user's order.

An image forming apparatus includes a display and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of: displaying one or more page images in a preview area showing a position and an orientation of the page image to be printed on one sheet; acquiring a first input for designating a first area set on the first page image; acquiring a second input to slide the specified position from the first area to rotate with respect to the center of the first page image; rotating the first image in response to the second input; determining an orientation setting area, among the plurality of orientation setting areas set around the center of the first page image, that has the designated position when releasing the second input; and updating the setting of the orientation of the first page image to the orientation specified by the determined orientation setting area and updating the position and orientation of the page image in the preview area.
