Failing nozzle compensation and non-uniformity correction in inkjet printing

A method and system for detecting one or more failing nozzles in an inkjet printhead of an inkjet printer for printing an image on a substrate and compensating failing nozzles, as well as for correcting colour uniformity of a printed image in inkjet printing an image on a substrate includes printing a first test pattern on a dedicated substrate, which is optically scanned and includes a system for the same. From the scan failing nozzles are identified, which are to be compensated by other nozzles. To these compensating nozzles compensated nozzle control data are allocated, which are used in printing a second test pattern that is also scanned and analysed for local deviations of colorimetric greyscale value. Corrected nozzle control data are allocated to the nozzles associated with the local deviation.

COLOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR APPLICATION OF COLOR TO SUBSTRATES

Methods, systems and computer readable media for color management are described. In some implementations, the method can include accessing one or more buildup curves associated with a combination of a substrate, one or more colorants and a colorant dispenser. The method can also include accessing a design file specifying a design and including one or more layer files each specifying a layer color. The method can further include generating, for each layer color, a corresponding colorization recipe based on the one or more buildup curves. The method can also include creating a production job instruction/metadata file having a link to the design instruction/metadata file and including parameters associated with the colorant dispensing job to be carried out using the design instruction/metadata file.

Image processing method and apparatus determing cause of image defect based on mixed color test image

A processor identifies a specific part composed of a plurality of significant pixels in a mixed-color test image. Furthermore, the processor identifies a color vector. The color vector represents a vector in a color space from one of a color of the specific part in the mixed-color test image and a color of a reference area including a periphery of the specific part to the other. Furthermore, the processor determines which of a plurality of image creating portions of an image forming device corresponding to a plurality of developing colors, is a cause of an image defect, based on the color vector identified from the mixed-color test image.
