An image inspection apparatus includes: a light source configured to emit white light onto a test image formed on a paper sheet; an optical lens system configured to receive light reflected by the paper sheet, the reflected light being of the white light emitted from the light source; a separating unit configured to separate light having passed through the optical lens system; a reading unit configured to receive the separated light at the different wavelengths, and optically read the test image of the light; and a control unit configured to calculate edge blurs at a rising edge and a falling edge of each set of image data of the light obtained by the reading unit reading the test image, calculate widths of the test image, and determine the width calculated from the set of image data having the smallest edge blur to be the width of the test image.

An ink discharge operation adjustment method includes the following, recording a halftone image in which the ink is discharged to form a predetermined halftone pattern and a solid image in which the ink completely covers a surface of the recording medium; obtaining a first reading result by a reader reading a non-recording region in which an image is not recorded on a recording medium; obtaining a second reading result of the halftone image and the solid image so that a difference of an elapsed time from a start of the curing to the reading is within a predetermined reference difference; obtaining coverage rate information based on the reading results; and performing setting regarding adjustment of a droplet amount of the ink based on the coverage rate information.
Image processing method, image processing device, and recording device
An image processing method includes a first conversion step, a second conversion step that, using a second conversion table for converting input image data represented by a second color space to output image data represented by the second color space, converts image data of a second region for which recording conditions are different from a first region in a second image data, and a recording data generating step that generates recording data based on third image data including image data of a first region in the second image data and image data of the second region after conversion using the second conversion table. When adjusting an ink amount, the ink amount is not adjusted in the second conversion step and is adjusted in the first conversion step.

In this print method, assuming that the number of stacking of ink layers in a thickest portion in a thickly-piled portion is N, in a histogram preparation step ST2, a histogram of luminance values of grayscale image data prepared in an image data preparation step ST1 is prepared, and in luminance value range setting steps ST3 to ST10, a luminance value of predetermined gradations of the histogram is divided into N and N luminance value ranges are set. In the luminance value range setting steps ST3 to ST10, a division position of the luminance value of the predetermined gradations is adjusted while the histogram displayed on a predetermined display is checked.
Color adjustment system and method
A method comprising determining a recipe vector of a recipe to a printing device, wherein the recipe is representative of a spot color in an input image, the recipe vector being based on one or more recipe color properties of the recipe, and determining a pixel vector of a pixel of an output of a printing device based on one or more pixel color properties of the pixel, wherein the pixel vector is representative of a spot color in an output of a printing device. The method also comprises comparing the recipe vector and pixel vector to determine a difference between the recipe and pixel and adjusting one or more pixel color properties of the pixel when the difference is below a predetermined threshold, to reduce the difference so as to substantially reproduce the spot color of the input image in the output of the printing device. The adjusted pixel color properties are then provided to the printing device.

Methods and printing system for multi-tier color management
A color printing system uses color printing management tiers to control color printing resources at a printing device. The color printing management tiers include a media type color management tier, an ink limited calibration tier, and a calibration and ICC profile creation tier. A print job includes a parameter that is used to select the management tier for color conversion operations for the print job. The parameter can include an attribute or a media type for the print job. The applicable tone reproduction curve (TRC) or ICC profile is retrieved according to the selected management tier. The TRC or ICC profile is adjusted according to an input applicable to the respective management tier.
Printing apparatus, printing medium determination method and patch selection method
A printing unit configured to apply a color material to a printing medium to perform printing, a colorimetric unit configured to perform colorimetry, a storage unit configured to store patch data defining a color of a color patch for a plurality of the color patches, and a control unit are included, wherein the control unit uses patch data for one color patch of the plurality of color patches stored in the storage unit, to cause the printing unit to print the color patch on the printing medium, and determines whether a type of the printing medium on which the printing unit printed the color patch is a predetermined type, based on a colorimetric value obtained by the colorimetry performed by the colorimetric unit on the color patch printed by the printing unit.
