An image processing apparatus includes: a display control section that causes a display device to display an image indicating a state in which a figure indicating a color gamut, a dot indicating a designated color, and one or more axes each indicating a feature amount of a color are viewed in an identical three-dimensional color space from a predetermined viewpoint; and a receiving section that receives an instruction issued by a user. The display control section changes, in accordance with the instruction, the image upon changing the viewpoint.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ENABLING OPTIMAL COLORANT JOB PROGRAMMING

Method, system, and graphical user interface for enabling optimal;colorant job programming. A graphical user interface displays a plurality of gamut mode selectable features. One or more of the gamut mode selectable features can be selected for image processing of an image. A graphical image can be displayed within the next of the user interface based on image processing of the image, and in response to selection of a gamut mode selectable feature. The resulting displayed graphical image with the user interface can demonstrate to a user the benefit of utilizing additional colorant on the image particular pixels in the graphical image, which can benefit from the additional colorant.

Method and device for color gamut mapping

The present principles relate to a method and device for gamut mapping from a first color gamut towards a second color gamut. The method comprises obtaining a preserved key color (prsv_color.sub.K0) and a hue alignment angle (⊖.sub.K0) of the key color (color.sub.K0) for each key color (color.sub.K0) of at least 3 key colors to define a preserved gamut and a rotated gamut; and performing a hue mapping of a current color (color) from the first color gamut towards the second color gamut wherein in case the current color (color) is in a preserved gamut defined by the preserved key color (prsv_color.sub.K0), the hue mapped current color is unchanged, and in case the current color is out of the preserved gamut, the hue mapped current color is calculated from the hue alignment angle (⊖.sub.K0) of two adjacent key colors of the current color (rotated gamut) and from the preserved area.

Color resources

An example color resource is generated. A source color from a first color space is converted to a corresponding greyscale color in a greyscale color space. The greyscale color includes a first luminosity amount. A black channel amount is adjusted to a depletion color from a second color space to form a target color in the second color space. The depletion color corresponds with a transformation of the source color into the second color space. The depletion color includes a second luminosity amount, and adjusting the black channel includes matching the second luminosity amount in the target color with the first luminosity amount.

Color gamut mapping device, tuning method thereof, and image processor

The disclosure relates to a color gamut mapping device that allows a gamma characteristic for each color to be tuned to match a target gamma curve through color gamut mapping, a tuning method thereof, and an image processor including the same. The color gamut mapping device controls a hue and saturation of an image signal to match a target color gamut using a hue parameter assigned to each of a plurality of hue axes and a saturation parameter assigned to correspond to each of a plurality of saturation control areas of each hue axis, and the color gamut mapping device changes the saturation of the image signal by changing the saturation parameter which is assigned to each hue axis and corresponds to the uppermost saturation control area so that a gamma characteristic for each color of the image signal is changed to match a target gamma curve for each color.

A method of color mapping color values of an oligochromatic pattern comprising the following steps: determining an image-gamut, in a N-dimensional device independent color system (ND-DICS), of said oligochromatic pattern; wherein said image-gamut comprises said color values of said oligochromatic pattern; and determining a skeleton (500) of said image-gamut; and performing an adaption on said skeleton (500) in said ND-DICS by a set of N-dimensional-transforming steps (30) and determining for points of said skeleton (500), a path in said ND-DICS that corresponds to said adaption; and color mapping said color values, of said oligochromatic pattern, based on said determined paths (35) of said points of said skeleton (500).

Controlling use of optional colors in extended gamut printing based on pixels in gamut extension

A processor of a printing device automatically raster image processes print data in a print job to produce a first, relatively low resolution, bitmap for printing the print job with the printer's main colors and one or more optional colors. The processor automatically compares the extended gamut of the lower-resolution first bitmap and the main color gamut of the printing engine to identify image quality improvement pixels of the extended gamut that are outside the main color gamut. The processor automatically either raster image processes the print data with the main colors and one of the optional colors, or raster image processes the print data with only the main colors, based on whether the number of image quality improvement pixels of the extended gamut that are outside the main color gamut exceeds a pixel quantity threshold, to produce a second, relatively higher resolution, bitmap.
