20200186680 · 2020-06-11 ·

A method is disclosed wherein data representative of a plurality of colors defined In a color space is received, the plurality of colors providing a color palette taken to be related to each other by predefined color harmony rules based on their relative positions in the color space. An irreproducible color of the color palette outside a rendering system's reproducible color gamut is determined, the reproducible color gamut having been received for a rendering system on which image data comprising colors of the color palette is to be reproduced. A suggested color for a replacement color palette also complying with the predefined color harmony rules is determined based on the reproducible color gamut to bring the color palette towards being within the rendering system's reproducible color gamut.

APPARATUS AND METHOD TO DETERMINE A COLOR WITHIN A RANGE OF COLORS PRODUCIBLE BY AN OUTPUT DEVICE

A method includes receiving information specifying a color gamut. The color gamut corresponds to a range of colors producible by an output device. The method further includes receiving a first indication of a first color associated with a first point in a geometrical representation of the color gamut in a three-dimensional (3D) color space. The method further includes generating, based on the first color, a second indication of a second color that is included in the color gamut. The second color is associated with a second point in the 3D color space. The second point is identified based on a particular value of data associated with a plurality of distances between the first point and a subset of points of the geometrical representation. The subset of points includes more than one and fewer than all points of the geometrical representation.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR COLOR GAMUT MAPPING
20200106928 · 2020-04-02 ·

The present principles relate to a method and device for gamut mapping from a first color gamut towards a second color gamut. The method comprises obtaining a preserved key color (prsv_color.sub.K0) and a hue alignment angle (.sub.K0) of the key color (color.sub.K0) for each key color (color.sub.K0) of at least 3 key colors to define a preserved gamut and a rotated gamut; and performing a hue mapping of a current color (color) from the first color gamut towards the second color gamut wherein in case the current color (color) is in a preserved gamut defined by the preserved key color (prsv_color.sub.K0), the hue mapped current color is unchanged, and in case the current color is out of the preserved gamut, the hue mapped current color is calculated from the hue alignment angle (.sub.K0) of two adjacent key colors of the current color (rotated gamut) and from the preserved area.

A color of an image that is printed based on a second color value obtained by converting a color value of a specific color falling outside a color gamut without using a first conversion table is closer to the specific color falling outside the color gamut than a color of an image that is printed based on a first color value obtained by converting the color value of the specific color falling outside the color gamut by using the first conversion table.

Method and apparatus for combining colorants using camera

A method and apparatus for combining colorants using a camera. The method of combining colorants using a camera includes extracting color data from an image of an object captured using a camera, converting the color data into spectral reflection factor data of the object on the basis of a pre-constructed camera color model, acquiring spectral reflection factor data for an estimated colorant combination obtained by simulating a combination of colorant samples obtained from a colorant database, and selecting an optimal colorant combination by comparing errors between the spectral reflection factor data of the object and the spectral reflection factor data for the estimated colorant combination. Therefore, it is possible to use a highly accessible and inexpensive camera, such as a smartphone camera, and thus an ordinary user can easily find an optimal colorant combination.
