STEERABLE AND CONTROLLABLE MEDICAL LASER FIBERS
A device includes a catheter section comprising a flexible joint region disposed between a distal end and a proximal end. The device includes a laser fiber disposed within the catheter section. The laser fiber emits laser light at a fiber distal end. The device includes a wire comprising a distal end coupled to the catheter section. The wire is configured to move the distal end of the catheter section from a first position to a second position about the flexible joint region.
RESONATING PROBE WITH OPTIONAL SENSOR, EMITTER, AND/OR INJECTION CAPABILITY
A microsurgical probe employs an optional probe support structure; an optical fiber for providing a feed path for an emission wavelength; a chemical feed path for delivering a chemical; a resonator motor; and a probe accessory tool. A microsurgical system additionally employs a sensor and an artificial intelligence (AI) system to assess conditions based on data provided by the sensor. The system can be employed to remove tumor tissue that is interwoven with healthy tissue. This system can also be employed to fertilize old, inflexible ova.
SYSTEM WITH VIBRATION DEVICE AND COOLING FLUID FOR INTERSTITIAL LASER THERAPY
Disclosed is a system provided with a vibration device and cooling fluid for interstitial laser therapy. Use of the vibration device to vibrate at least part of the system releases and assists in the transfer of gas bubbles (e.g. steam) produced during treatment use, thus stabilising the temperature at or near a treatment site. The system for interstitial laser therapy includes an optical waveguide having an optical output end and an associated optical diffuser, an irrigation tube, an outer tube (e.g. cannula) and a vibration device. The irrigation tube directs cooling fluid to flow out of a distal end of the irrigation tube which directs cooling fluid to flow inside of and/or outside of the optical diffuser. The vibration device is used to vibrate the irrigation tube, the optical diffuser and/or the outer tube.
FLEXIBLE ARTICULATING SURGICAL PROBE
An articulating, steerable surgical probe includes an elongated, flexible transfer tube adapted for insertion into a surgical region for endoscopic laryngeal laser surgery. A lumen is defined by an interior of the transfer tube, and a laser fiber extends through the lumen for delivering a therapeutic laser signal to a distal end of the laser fiber. An articulating tip at the distal end of the transfer tube is responsive to articulating forces from a retractable tether for directing the treatment probe in a direction of the articulation, and a linkage to the tether from a control module effects controlled retraction of the tether for articulating the tip towards a surgical target, such that the articulating tip imposing a bend radius based on a signal loss through the laser fiber.
Thermoablation probe
A thermoablation probe for performing an interstitial thermal therapy (ITT) procedure on a brain lesion generally includes a rigid sheath and a flexible treatment device telescopically slidable within the sheath. The treatment device has a substantially continuous covering and a shape-memory wire enveloped by the covering.
ARTICULATING SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS AND METHODS OF DEPLOYING THE SAME
A robotic introducer system comprises a first assembly comprising a cable control assembly configured for use in a plurality of medical procedures, a second assembly comprising a distal link extension assembly configured for fewer uses than the first assembly, and a third assembly comprising an articulating probe assembly, coupled between the first and second assemblies and configured for fewer uses than the second assembly.
Steerable laser probe
A steerable laser probe may include a handle, an actuation lever, an optic fiber, and a housing tube. The housing tube may have a first housing tube portion having a first stiffness and a second housing tube portion having a second stiffness. The second stiffs ness may be greater than the first stiffness. The optic fiber may be disposed within the housing tube and within an inner bore of the handle. An actuation of the actuation lever about a pivot pin of the handle may gradually curve the optic fiber. An actuation of the actuation lever about the pivot pin of the handle may gradually straighten the optic fiber.
Methods and devices for targeted ablation of tissue
In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a system and method for ablating tissue. The method may comprise, for example, aligning a needle of a medical device with the target tissue; piercing tissue adjacent to the target tissue with the needle; sliding into the target tissue a laser fiber moveably disposed within the needle, wherein the needle is hollow and the laser fiber includes a prism; and delivering laser energy through the laser fiber and prism.
Steerable laser probe
A steerable laser probe may include a handle having a handle proximal end and a handle distal end, an actuation structure of the handle, a housing sleeve, a shape memory sleeve at least partially disposed within the housing sleeve, and an optic fiber disposed within the shape memory sleeve and within an inner bore of the handle. A compression of the actuation structure may be configured to gradually curve the optic fiber. A compression of the actuation structure may be configured to gradually straighten the optic fiber. A decompression of the actuation structure may be configured to gradually curve the optic fiber. A decompression of the actuation structure may be configured to gradually straighten the optic fiber.
Methods and devices for thrombus dispersal
Catheter systems of the invention are directed to the removal of occlusions, such as thrombi and plaque, within blood vessels. In certain aspects, catheter systems of the invention include an elongate body defining a first lumen and comprising a distal portion, an inner member configured for insertion into the first lumen, the inner member comprising an energy source configured to deliver therapeutic energy to a treatment site; and a dissolution element coupled to the distal portion of the elongate body. The dissolution element may include a heating element, steam, and a balloon.
