METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PROVIDING RELEVANT SEASON SERIES RECORDING FUNCTIONALITY
Systems and methods are provided herein for scheduling a season recording. A series is provided to a user device, the series having a plurality of sequential seasons, and each season having a plurality of episodes. A request for recording the series is received from the user. In response, a last episode of the series watched by the user is identified. A relevant season of the plurality of seasons is then determined, such that the relevant season precedes another season of the plurality of seasons and includes the last episode watched by the user. Then, episodes of the relevant season that follow the last episode watched by the user are scheduled for recording, such that episodes of a season that precedes the relevant season are not scheduled for recording.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SIMPLIFIED SETUP OF A UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL
A system and method for enabling set up of a controlling device capable of controlling a plurality of appliances, via an interactive instruction set and associated programming. The programming is accessible by a STB or other controllable appliance and is configured to appropriately display interactive instructions and prompts to a user during a user initiated set up procedure for configuration of another controllable device (e.g., DVD, VCR, DVR, etc) available to the user.
DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD THEREOF
A display device is provided, which includes a jog switch which performs a moving operation in a plurality of directions and a push operation, a display unit which displays a first user interface (UI) for adjusting a channel or a volume of the display device or a second UI for adjusting other functions of the display device in accordance with a first operation of the jog switch, and a control unit which adjusts a selected function of the display device in accordance with a second operation of the jog switch in which is performed in a state where the first UI or the second UI is displayed. The jog switch is formed to project for a predetermine height from a surface of the display device, and thus a user can find the jog switch easily and promptly even is the jog switch is obstructed from view.
BROADCASTER APPLICATION REMOTE CONTROL KEY HANDLING
A reception apparatus includes a receiver and processing circuitry. The receiver circuitry configured to receive a broadcast stream that includes television content. The processing circuitry executes a television receiver application that displays the television content. The processing circuitry receives indication of a selection of a key that is provided on an input device. In response to reception of the indication of the selection of the key, the processing circuitry determines whether a broadcaster application has reserved the selected key. In response to the determination that the broadcaster application has reserved the selected key, the processing circuitry determines whether a native application associated with the broadcaster application has reserved the selected key. The processing circuitry processes, by the native application, the selected key in response to the determination that the broadcaster application has reserved the selected key and the native application has reserved the selected key.
MULTIMEDIA DEVICE FOR PROCESSING VOICE COMMAND
The present invention discloses a multimedia device capable of processing a recognized speech-based command. In one embodiment, the device may include a memory to store at least one application therein; an application manager for executing any of the at least one application stored in the memory; and a controller configured to receive from the application manager a list of at least one recognized speech-based command that can be executed by the executed application, wherein the controller is configured: to control a network interface module to transmit any speech-based data received from an outside and the list to the server; and to control the executed application or execute a function non-specific to the currently-executed application, based on a feedback result value received from the server via the network interface module.
BROADCAST RECEIVING SYSTEM
A broadcast receiving apparatus includes: a first receiving unit receiving broadcast data for a first transmission method; a second receiving unit receiving broadcast data for a second transmission method; a first decoding unit decoding the broadcast data received by the first receiving unit; a second decoding unit decoding the broadcast data received by the second receiving unit; a video output unit outputting video, the video being generated based on data decoded by the first or second decoding unit; an operation input unit receiving control information from a remote controller; and a control unit controlling the units based on the control information received by the operation input unit. The remote controller includes a button to output control information for switching between a display state and a non-display state of service, the service being linked with a broadcasting program.
DISPLAY METHOD AND DISPLAY DEVICE
Disclosed is a display apparatus and method. The method includes: in response to a boot command for starting the display apparatus from a user, entering a preset application in the display apparatus, where a user interface of the preset application is a black screen; in response to the smart boot mode being in the on state, reading an attribute value stored in a database of the display apparatus; if the attribute value is a first preset value, controlling the display to present a startup homepage, and exiting from the preset application; and if the attribute value is a second preset value, reading an input ID, controlling the display to present an interface of a physical source corresponding to the input ID, and exiting from the preset application.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING USER INTERFACES IN AN INTELLIGENT TELEVISION
An intelligent television can provide various interfaces for navigating processes associated with providing content. The user interfaces include unique visual representations and organizations that allow the user to utilize the intelligent television more easily and more effectively. Particularly, the user interfaces pertain to the display of media content, electronic programming guide information, television content, and other content. Further, the user interfaces provide unique process of transitioning between the content.
ELECTRONIC APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE ELECTRONIC APPARATUS THEREOF
An electronic apparatus and a controlling method thereof are provided. The electronic apparatus includes a processor configured to train a UI provided by an external device through an input/output interface and store information on the UI provided by the external device in a memory, based on an image being received from the external device through the input/output interface, identify whether a UI is included in the received image, based on a UI being included in the received image, compare the UI included in the received image with the UI provided by the external device stored in the memory and identify whether the UI provided by the external device is changed, and based on identification that the UI provided by the external device being changed, retrain the UI included in the received image and store information on the UI included in the received image in the memory.
