A hand-held device having a touch sensitive surface uses a relative distance from an origin location to each of a plurality of touch zones of the touch sensitive surface activated by a user to select a one of the plurality of touch zones as being intended for activation by the user.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a remote control which may include one or more buttons configured to provide input to the remote control upon being activated, a transmitter for transmitting data, a receiver for receiving data, a processor and memory storing computer executable instructions that, when executed, cause the two-way remote control to perform a method for configuring repeat transmission behavior of one or more of the buttons of the two-way remote control. Further, the receiver may be configured to receive data from a device configured to be controlled by the remote control and the data may include instructions for configuring the repeat transmission behavior of the one or more buttons of the two-way remote control. Additionally, the two-way remote control may configure the repeat transmission behavior of the one or more buttons of the two-way remote control based on the data received from the device.

In one embodiment, a method for displaying multimedia content comprises acquiring multimedia content including video data which is reproduced as a video, and slide data including a key scene which is matched with event time point in a reproduction time period of the video data and is displayed in a slideshow manner, acquiring a text data corresponding to the multimedia content, displaying the multimedia content in a first area according to a video mode for reproducing the video data as the video or a slideshow mode for displaying the key scene in the slideshow manner, displaying at least a portion of the text data in a second area; and adjusting the displayed text data according to the displayed multimedia content.

Apparatuses, Methods, and Systems to enable the display of media content, the apparatus includes a remote control device; a keypad with a plurality of buttons for controlling a media player device; a circular button of the plurality of buttons that is configured to rotate in a clockwise direction and a counterclockwise direction; and in response to detected rotational motion either in the clockwise direction or the counterclockwise direction, the media player device is configured to cause an adjustable amount of forwarding or a reverse play operation in a position of playing streamed media content on a display device; wherein the adjustable amount of forwarding or reverse play operation of streamed media content corresponds to rotational motion detected of the circular button during the playing of the streamed media content.

A mobile device is coupled to a computer system configured to access media content sources and play media content items provided thereby on a media device. The mobile device receives a first control specification that includes a plurality of first information items each associated with one of the media content sources and a first action definition. The first information items are concurrently displayed on a remote control user interface of the mobile device. In accordance with a selection of one of the first information items corresponding to a first content source, the mobile device transmits a command of a first action definition corresponding to the selected first information item to the computer system, and receives a second control specification that includes a plurality of second information items. Systems and methods are described for adapting a second user input device to resemble a first user input device while preserving new functionalities not available in the first user input device. The systems and methods may identify, based on identifiers of the first and second user input devices, a first and second set of device functionalities provided by the devices. The systems and methods may compare the sets of device functionalities to determine a set of common device functionalities and, in response, modify the display of an input of the second user input device to correspond to visual attributes of an input of the first user input device.

Methods and systems for dynamically navigating content are provided. Media content is generated for display on a user device. A selectable indicator for incrementally skipping through the media content is also generated. An input indicating selection of the selectable indicator is received and, in response to receiving the input indicating the selection of the selectable indicator, at least two selectable navigation settings are generated for display. Each navigation setting is associated with a navigation interval within the content. An input of the selection of the navigation setting and the navigation interval is received. The current play position of the media content item is shifted based on the selected navigation setting and the navigation interval.
