Content viewing method and mobile information terminal used for same
A content viewing method uses a viewing system including a content distribution server distributing contents, a mobile information terminal, and a viewing device reproducing a content. The mobile information terminal transmits user identification information and a user password to the content distribution server. The content distribution server authenticates the mobile information terminal based on the user identification information and the user password. The mobile information terminal transmits an account issue request requesting an account for reproducing a desired content to the content distribution server. The content distribution server issues the account based on the account issue request and transmits the account to the mobile information terminal. The mobile information terminal stores the account. The mobile information terminal transmits the account by short-range wireless communication. The viewing device stores the account received by short-range wireless communication. The viewing device reproduces the desired content using the stored account.
Content Rental System
A content rental system includes one data store for storing rental content. The content rental system also includes a content server for transferring content to one viewing device based upon a received request. The content server is further configured to authorize the transfer of the content from the viewing device to another viewing device.
Method and apparatus for providing broadcast service
A method for providing a broadcast service is provided. The method includes transmitting a user datagram protocol (UDP)/internet protocol (IP) packet including a first message, the first message containing information about a message to be signed and transmitted, and transmitting a moving picture experts group (MPEG) media transport protocol (MMTP) packet including a second message, the second message containing information about the broadcast service and information indicating whether the information about the broadcast service is signed. The first message includes an identifier of a key used to verify a signature of the message to be transmitted and signed and an identifier of a hash algorithm used to calculate a hash value of the message to be transmitted and signed.
Secure provisioning, by a client device, cryptographic keys for exploiting services provided by an operator
A method for securely receiving a multimedia content by a client device operated by one or more operator(s) involving a dedicated provisioning server of a security provider managing symmetric secrets used by the client devices and operators license servers. The provisioning server provides to the client device one or more generations of operator specific unique device secrets, which are then exploited by the various operators' license servers to deliver licenses such that authorized client devices can consume protected multimedia contents.
MEDIA AUTHENTICATION
A content owner registers with an identity authority by providing information about the content owner and a public key of a public/private key pair. The content owner registers content to the identity authority and signs the multiple segments of the content with the private key of the public/private key pair. A system that receives the signed content determines an indicated content owner of the received media content and communicates with the identity authority to confirm that the media content was produced by the indicated content owner. The receiving system requests the public key of the content owner from the identity authority and uses the public key to verify the signature of each media content segment. Accordingly, the receiving system is able to determine if the media content was manipulated after being distributed by the content owner.
VALIDATING PARAMETERS ON DISCRETE COMPUTING APPLICATIONS TO GRANT ACCESS CONTROL TO CONTENT OR COMMANDS
A system for validating an authorization request to facilitate controlling access to content or computer commands, in which the access is requested by multiple entities operated on discrete computing environments. The techniques make use of a system including a switchboard and a rule engine that collect parameter sets required for validation from the entities and dynamically generate a lock and key combination based on the collected parameter sets. The key of the lock and key combination allows the system to validate each entity independently regardless of the required parameters specified in the lock and key combination.
Systems and Methods for Quick Start-Up of Playback
Systems and methods for quick start-up of playback in accordance with embodiments of the invention are disclosed. Media content may be encoded in a plurality of alternative streams and a quick start-up stream. The quick start-up stream may include media content that is encoded at a lower quality that the alternative streams and may be encrypted with a different, less secure encryption process than that of the alternative streams. During a start-up of playback, the playback device streams the media content from a quick start-up stream until a metric, such as a decryption key for the alternative streams is met. The device then streams the media content from the alternative streams in response to the metric being met.
Media distribution system with manifest-based entitlement enforcement
A method for enforcing entitlements includes configuring a wide variety of entitlements at a server; determining applicable combination of entitlements for a given client request; sending entitlements to the requesting client securely; handling entitlement information securely on a plurality of client devices at run time; storing entitlement information securely on a plurality of client devices for offline use; and enforcing entitlements on a plurality of client devices. The method employs manipulation of manifest files by a proxy that may be included in the client device or located in the network.
DISTRIBUTING DIGITAL CINEMA PACKAGE (DCP) OVER INTERNET
Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for distributed DCP over internet. A client-side digital content delivery device receives a digital cinema package (DCP) for a digital movie from a remote digital content delivery system. The DCP includes a unique digital watermark applied by the content delivery system. In response to receiving an input to cause playback of the digital movie, the client-side digital content delivery device compares a unique device identifier for a display device paired to the client-side digital content delivery device to an authorized unique identifier. If the unique device identifier matches the authorized unique identifier, the client-side digital content delivery device uses the DCP to causes presentation of the digital movie by the display device paired to the client-side digital content delivery device.
Selective MPEG packet encryption and decryption based upon data and security priorities
A cable distribution system that includes a head end connected to a plurality of customer devices through a transmission network that includes a remote fiber node that converts digital data to analog data suitable for the plurality of customer devices, where the head end includes a processor. A packetized elementary stream of a video is provided from the head end to customer devices through the transmission network, wherein the packetized elementary stream includes a plurality of groups comprising pairs of packetized elementary stream headers and packetized elementary stream payloads. A first one of the plurality of groups corresponding to a non-predicted coded picture of the video of the packetized elementary stream is determined. The first one of the plurality of groups is encrypted while not encrypting all of the plurality of groups of the video. A signal is provided from a conditional access system to a selected one of the plurality of customers that is suitable to be used to decrypt the first one of the plurality of groups.
