Method and apparatus for producing stratified streams

Embodiments of apparatus are disclosed for affecting working fluid flow in a system that delivers material between two locations by carrying the material in the working fluid. For example, embodiments of the disclosed apparatus may be used in an internal combustion engines to carry fuel droplets to a combustion area using air as the working fluid. The apparatus may include a passage including a funnel portion and tumble area that direct working fluid into a stratified stream. The stratified stream may include an outer boundary flow having a toroidal and/or helical flow characteristic and an inner flow carrying injected material that is bound by the outer flow.

Audio source waveguide

Embodiments of apparatus for affecting air flow and/or pressure wave propagation in relation to an audio source enclosure are disclosed. The apparatus may include two waveguide sections mounted within an audio source enclosure. The waveguide sections may include complementary nested first and second funnels disposed relative to each other in a manner to channel air flow in and/or from the enclosure.

Vibration cancelling speaker arrangement

A speaker assembly for being mounted within a wall is provided. The speaker assembly has a housing and a plurality of transducers supported by the housing. Each transducer has a front radiation surface and a radiation rear surface adapted to radiate sound along a central axis. The transducers are arranged relative to each other so the central axes of acoustic radiation of each of the transducers intersect at a circumcenter defined between the plurality of transducers to substantially cancel vibrations from the plurality of transducers. A slot is formed adjacent of each of the transducers. The slot extending a depth dimension of the assembly between a slot opening for transmitting acoustic radiation from the plurality of transducers and a back wall of the housing, wherein the depth dimension is generally perpendicular to the central axes of acoustic radiation of each of the transducers.

Acoustic device

An acoustic device with an open audio device structure that is configured to be carried on the head or upper torso of a user, a housing carried by the open audio device structure, the housing having opposed first and second ends, a flat diaphragm in the housing and comprising a front face and a rear face, the diaphragm configured to radiate front acoustic radiation from its front face and rear acoustic radiation from its rear face, wherein the front and rear acoustic radiations are out of phase, structure that supports the diaphragm such that the diaphragm can move relative to the housing, a primary magnet adjacent to the rear face of the diaphragm, a magnetic circuit that defines a path for magnetic flux of the primary magnet, a voice coil that is exposed to the magnetic flux and is configured to move the diaphragm up and down along a radiation axis that is normal to the front face of the diaphragm, and first and second sound-emitting outlets in the housing, wherein the first sound-emitting outlet is in or proximate the first end of the housing and is acoustically coupled to the front face of the diaphragm so as to emit front acoustic radiation into an acoustic space, and wherein the second sound-emitting outlet is in or proximate the second end of the housing and is acoustically coupled to the rear face of the diaphragm so as to emit rear acoustic radiation into the same acoustic space.

Loudspeaker system, loudspeaker system component, and audio system

A loudspeaker system includes a housing including a first housing portion and a second housing portion that are plate-shaped and face each other, a loudspeaker drive unit fixed to the first housing portion, and a coupling member that is rigid and couples the first housing portion and the second housing portion to each other inside the housing. The coupling member includes a first end that is directly or indirectly coupled to the first housing portion and a second end that is directly or indirectly coupled to the second housing portion. When second force is applied to the coupling member, the second force being smaller than first force that irreversibly deforms or breaks a coupling portion between the coupling member and the first housing portion, the coupling member is irreversibly deformed or broken so as to shorten a distance between the first end and the second end of the coupling member.

A system, apparatus, and method for passive dissipation of deconstructive harmonics during audio amplification and reproduction. An apparatus including an advantageous form and type of speaker baffle/enclosure is provided to isolate and/or dissipate deconstructive harmonics in an electrical loudspeaker system. A system for passive dissipation of deconstructive harmonics during audio amplification or reproduction from an audio speaker (the speaker having a front face and a rear) includes an encapsulation and isolation body within which the audio speaker is placeable, a mounting means upon the isolation body exterior, and a resiliently flexible baffle connected to the mounting means and extending rearwardly from the speaker. The baffle optionally is vented.

SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

An electronic device can include a housing defining an aperture and a display positioned in the aperture. The display and the housing can define an internal volume in which a speaker assembly is positioned. The speaker assembly can include a speaker module and a speaker enclosure in fluid communication, with the speaker enclosure at least partially defining a speaker volume.

Directive multiway loudspeaker with a waveguide

The present invention relates to a loudspeaker including an enclosure having front portion, side portions and back portion defining an inner volume, the front portion is formed as a waveguide surface and includes at least one driver in the center of the waveguide surface and is capable to radiate the main acoustic power of the loudspeaker to ambient volume in direction of first acoustic axis, and an additional driver attached to the enclosure. In accordance with the invention the additional driver is attached inside the enclosure such that a sub volume is formed inside the inner volume, the sub volume limited by the driver, spacers between the driver and the front portion, and the front portion of the enclosure, and at least one port is adapted to open from the sub volume to ambient volume either to side portion or back portion of the enclosure and at least one resonator acoustically connected to the sub volume, the resonator being tuned to at least one of unwanted resonances of the sub volume.

Speaker with an integrated air pressure and vibration mitigation system
11032638 · 2021-06-08 ·

A speaker with an integrated air pressure and vibration mitigation system is used to produce high fidelity acoustic and vibratory output. The speaker has a main cabinet a set of ventilation holes, an acoustic driver, a vibration unit, and a dampening unit. The main cabinet is an enclosure that retains the acoustic driver, the vibration unit and the dampening unit in desired orientations. The ventilation holes traverse through the main cabinet and provide exhaust ports for unwanted air pressure force and vibrations to be expelled into the external environment. The acoustic driver is mounted to a first face of the main cabinet. The dampening unit is a filter that is mounted in between the vibration unit and the main housing and prevents the transmission of unwanted vibrations and air pressure between the vibration unit and the acoustic driver. Thus, the acoustic driver can oscillate without hinderance and produce distortion-free audio.
