Dental drill tool
A system and method for mitigating pain associated with dentistry provides a removal apparatus for removing a portion of a tooth. A desiccation apparatus flows a desiccated gas to the portion of the tooth to desiccate dentinal tubules in a region surrounding the portion of the tooth, generally preventing nerve cells within the tooth from transmitting pain signals associated with the removal. The removal apparatus has a drill head with a body having an axial opening configured to accept a dental burr. An annular passage exists between the dental burr and the body within the axial opening. A chamber in the body is in fluid communication with the axial opening, where a channel is fluidly coupled to an external port and to a source of the desiccated gas to flow the desiccated gas therethrough and expose a drilling region of the dental burr to the desiccated gas to mitigate pain.
Air-driven interproximal toothbrush
The interproximal toothbrush includes an appliance body and neck with a nozzle member having a nozzle tip shaped to fit into interproximal teeth spaces. Bursts of air or air/liquid mixture are generated, exiting through the nozzle tip. A helix member or, alternatively, a spring, is supported within a channel in the nozzle member. The helix member is free to rotate as air or the air/liquid mixture is moved through the channel. A set of bristles is attached to a forward end of the helix member, so that it rotates with the helix member. Alternatively, a set of bristles is attached to the distal end of the spring so that successive bursts of air or the air/liquid mixture produce an in-and-out movement of the set of bristles toward and away from the teeth.
DEVICE FOR CONTINUOUS IRRIGATION WITH ACTIVATION IN ENDODONTICS APPLICATION
Disclosed herein is a dental device for delivering fluid continuously while activated in an endodontic application. The dental device includes a hollow needle having a tip end and a connector portion; and a handle. One end of the handle is configured to be affixed to the connector portion of the hollow needle. The opposite end of the handle is capable of being attached to an endodontic handpiece or a sonic agitator for the activation. The connector portion includes at least one tube connector that is an integral part of the connector portion of the hollow needle or a plurality of openings on the connector portion to accommodate the hollow needle to a connector. The connector is a modular fluid delivery connector which is removable from the needle such that it can be reused.
SURGICAL DRILL TYPE CUTTING TOOL
A surgical drill type cutting tool includes a shank and an active portion extending in the extension of the shank, with chip areas extending along the active portion, and a ring surrounding a part of the active portion, an inner surface of the ring engaging the active portion without closing off the chip areas, allowing irrigation fluid to provides useful irrigation over most of the length of the active portion of the surgical drill bit.
Dental or dental surgical ultrasonic tool
A dental or dental surgical ultrasonic tool, comprising: a tool body, a connecting device for connection to an ultrasonic source, a working section extending along a longitudinal axis and designed to penetrate into bone to be treated, and a liquid line extending through the tool body in the direction of the working section and ending in at least one opening for the discharge of a liquid, wherein the working section has a distal end face with multiple cutting edges and a lateral surface connected thereto, wherein at least one channel for conveying a liquid is provided in the lateral surface, and wherein the at least one opening of the liquid line is disposed on the lateral surface in the at least one channel or directly adjacent to the at least one channel. Additionally or alternatively, the at least one channel extends helically around the longitudinal axis of the working section.
ENDODONTIC SYSTEM AND INSTRUMENT FOR IRRIGATION AND DISINFECTION OF A TOOTH ROOT CANAL
A dental instrument for use with a dental handpiece for cleaning and disinfecting of tooth root canals, the instrument including a shaft and connector for releasable attachment to the handpiece, the shaft comprising: a tip end; a distal portion approximate to the connector; and at least two radial protrusions extending along length of the shaft with a longitudinal groove extending therebetween.

Determining the internal structure of a bone
A drill burr includes a channel, extending along a longitudinal axis of the drill burr, and fluidically connected to a water reservoir for providing a constant-flow liquid jet. The constant-flow liquid jet has a first pressure directed at the bone along the longitudinal axis of the drill burr. A pressure sensor senses a pressure change in the liquid jet from the first pressure to a second pressure. A signal processing unit is configured to translate the pressure change into information indicating a structural change in the bone along the drilling path, from a first structure to a second structure, corresponding respectively to the first pressure and the second pressure. Optionally, the signal processing unit generates an audio alarm notifying of the structural changes.
Dental drill and method for producing same
A method produces a dental drill that has a shank and a work section. The shank contains a centrally arranged, continuous first channel. The work section contains one or more continuous, spiral-shaped further channels. The first channel and the further channels open into a common chamber connecting the shank and the work section. The shank is sintered with the work section in order to form a one-piece, sintered component that encloses the chamber connecting the shank and the work section.
