Systems and methods for fixating a graft in a bone tunnel are provided. In general, the system includes a tissue fixation device having a delivery configuration and a deployed configuration, at least one graft retention loop coupled to the tissue fixation device, and a drill pin having a sidewall surrounding a cavity at a proximal end of the pin and at least one longitudinally oriented opening in the sidewall in communication with the cavity, the cavity being configured to fully seat the tissue fixation device. The drill pin is configured to substantially contain therein the tissue fixation device when in the delivery configuration and to enable deployment of the tissue fixation device through the opening. Drill pins configured to contain a tissue fixation device are also provided.

Ligament fixation system, implants, devices, and methods of use

Implants, devices, systems, and methods for achieving ligament fixation are disclosed. An implant is disclosed that includes a head member, a breakaway portion, and an anchor member. The anchor member may be coupled to the head member by the breakaway portion. The implant may be designed to fail in fatigue at the breakaway portion. The breakaway portion may thereby extend between a first end of the anchor member and a second end of the head member. The breakaway portion may comprise a circumferential groove. The groove may be configured to concentrate stress forces in situ such that a fatigue failure/fracture occurs at the groove. Insertion instruments for inserting an implant for ligament fixation are also disclosed. Methods of using an implant for achieving ligament fixation are also disclosed.

Surgical methods for the treatment of plantar plate injury
11172920 · 2021-11-16 · ·

A method for the treatment of plantar plate injury including insertion of at least one suture anchor into a bone opening and anchoring the at least one suture anchor and thereafter threading two ends of a suture of at least one anchored suture anchor through the plantar plate and pulling the plantar plate to the bone with the opening and fix the soft tissue to that bone by tying a knot in the suture.

Suspensory graft fixation with adjustable loop length

A suspensory fixation device has an elongated anchor member adapted to be transversely situated at the exit of a bone tunnel. A graft supporting loop member formed of a pair of parallel suture limbs extending from a bight portion is suspended transversely from the anchor member and has a loop length which is adjustable so the graft ligament can be supported in the bone tunnel at varying distances from the anchor member. When a graft ligament is attached to the saddle end of the loop member, the length may be shortened by pulling distally on the pair of limbs to pull the graft ligament into the bone tunnel. When tension is applied to the loop member by the graft pulling the loop proximally, the bight portion of the suture automatically locks the graft supporting loop member in place.

Embodiments of the invention include an anchoring system (1) and method of inserting an anchor (100). Suture (305) and graft (550) may be implanted with anchors (100) of some embodiments. Some anchor embodiments may include at least one side that is cut away (115) to provide a protected space, such as central portion (116), for suture (305) and graft (550) and may provide a connection mechanism, such as a connector hole (107), that may be pushed or pulled by an inserter (200) of the anchoring system (1).

Soft anchor assembly with barbed flexible strand and techniques for use

A soft anchor assembly according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a sheath and a flexible strand at least partially surrounded by the sheath.

KNOTLESS BONE ANCHOR SYSTEM AND METHOD

A method of soft tissue repair comprises attaching at least one suture to a soft tissue to be affixed to a bone structure, positioning a tissue anchor on a driver, positioning a cinching suture alongside the driver, engaging a catch of the cinching suture with a stop of the driver, capturing the at least one suture attached to the soft tissue in a loop of the cinching suture positioned proximate a distal tip of the driver, drawing the at least one suture toward the distal tip of the driver by pulling at least a first portion of the cinching suture; preventing the cinching suture from passing by the driver by engaging the catch with the stop, and installing the tissue anchor into the bone structure to secure the at least one suture in the bone structure by interference-friction fixation between the tissue anchor and the bone structure.

Implantable articles for attaching tendons and/or ligaments to bone and/or cartilage, assemblies thereof, and methods of use thereof

An implantable article for attaching tendons and/or ligaments to bone and/or cartilage, assemblies thereof, and methods of use thereof are provided. The article is configured for attaching at least one of a tendon and a ligament to at least one of bone and cartilage. The article comprises a membrane comprising a biological material that promotes cell growth. The membrane comprises a first end, a second end, a cavity, and an expandable portion. The second end is configured to be attached to at least one of the bone, the cartilage, the tendon, and the ligament. The cavity extends from the first end to the second end. The cavity is configured to receive the cell growth mixture from the open end. The expandable portion is positioned intermediate the first end and the second end and is configured to increase in size responsive to the cell growth mixture entering the cavity.

This disclosure provides an apparatus, system and method for ligament augmentation strap assembly. The ligament augmentation strap assembly includes an ligament augmentation strap inserted through a hole previously drilled through two adjacent bones; and a safe-release bone fastener attached to end of the ligament augmentation strap and configured to collapse when a force greater than a threshold is applied from the ligament augmentation strap.

Method of performing a tendon replacement

A suture assembly, including a button having two apertures and a suture defining a lumen and forming a double loop, formed by a double trap formed in the suture, opposed to the button, and in which a first portion of the suture is threaded through the lumen of the double trap and a second portion of the suture is also threaded through the lumen of the double trap, so that two portions of suture are positioned together in the double trap. The first portion of the suture, after emerging from the double trap, is threaded through the lumen again, thereby forming a second trap, increasing resistance of the double loop to expansion, the double loop being threaded through the apertures of the button, the suture having two suture ends that are threaded through the button apertures and accessible on a side of the button opposed to the double loop.
