Modular IOL systems including a base and a lens, wherein the lens includes tabs for connection to the base. The modular IOL allows for the lens to be adjusted or exchanged while leaving the base in place, either intra-operatively or post-operatively.
SELF-CONTAINED OCULAR SURGERY INSTRUMENT
A self-contained ocular surgery instrument, including a power module having a body presenting a mating coupler and including a compressed gas supply; a fluid reservoir; an aspiration pump; an aspirated material reservoir and a control panel. The mating coupler is structured to receive and couple to at least one module that facilitates performance of an eye surgery task. The compressed gas supply is coupled to the aspiration pump and the aspirated material reservoir is in fluid communication with the aspiration pump to receive aspirated material from the mating coupler. The fluid reservoir is in fluid communication with the mating coupler such that fluid is supplied under pressure to the mating coupler and thus to the at least one module that facilitates performance of an eye surgery task. The control panel is in controlling communication with the compressed gas supply, the aspiration pump and the aspirated material reservoir.

Apparatus for use in implanting intraocular lenses, the apparatus including an axial elongate hollow conduit having first and second ends and defining an intraocular lens injection pathway extending along a longitudinal axis, the axial elongate hollow conduit being formed at the first end with a syringe connector defining a removable syringe mounting location and a pusher element located within the axial elongate hollow conduit between the syringe connector and the second end, at least one of the axial elongate hollow conduit and the pusher element being formed with mutually communicating conduits for enabling viscoelastic material to pass through the syringe connector and the pusher element to a location between the pusher element and the second end of the axial elongate hollow conduit.

Bifurcated haptic aligner actuators (BHAAs) have an anterior and a posterior lens support ring to each of which is pivotively attached a plurality of center-pivoted struts, at least two of which comprise an opposing pair, and to each of the opposing pair of struts is pivotably attached a bifurcated haptic, one haptic branch being pivotably attached to the anterior part of a strut, the other branch of the same haptic being similarly attached to the posterior part of the same strut.

An apparatus includes a handle and a spatula-shaped end coupled to the handle and configured to be inserted into an eye. The spatula-shaped end includes top and bottom surfaces and multiple facets positioned along one or more sides of the spatula-shaped end and along a front of the spatula-shaped end. Each facet narrows a distance between the top and bottom surfaces. One or more first facets are positioned along the front of the spatula-shaped end. The one or more first facets are configured to facilitate insertion of a tip of the spatula-shaped end between an anterior leaflet and a lens in the eye. One or more second facets are positioned along the one or more sides of the spatula-shaped end. The one or more second facets are configured to facilitate sliding of the spatula-shaped end along the anterior leaflet between the anterior leaflet and the lens in the eye.

A method of treating a cataractous lens of a patient's eye includes generating a light beam, deflecting the light beam using a scanner to form a treatment pattern, delivering the treatment pattern to the lens of the patient's eye to create a plurality of cuts in the form two or more different incisions patterns within the lens to segment the lens tissue into a plurality of patterned pieces, and mechanically breaking the lens into a plurality of pieces along the cuts. A first incision pattern includes two or more crossing cut incision planes. A second incision pattern includes a plurality of laser incision each extending along a first length between a posterior and an anterior surface of the lens capsule.

The present invention relates to a prosthetic capsular bag and method for inserting the same. The prosthetic capsular bag helps to maintain the volume of the natural capsular bag, thereby stabilizing the effective lens position of an IOL so that refractive outcomes may be improved with cataract surgery. The prosthetic capsular bag further provides an integrated refractive surface, providing a means for experimentally determining an effective lens position prior to inserting an IOL.

A male form is configured as an attachment element for an injector for implanting an intraocular lens in an eye. The male form includes an elongate carrier part and a front part that is arranged at one end of the elongate carrier part. The front part has a front side and is made of an elastically deformable material, the deformable material being compressible at least in the direction of a longitudinal axis (A) of the male form. The front side includes a first peripheral side, an opposite second peripheral side, and at least one elongate indentation, which is formed in the front part and which is open at the front side. The indentation extends between the two peripheral sides and opens out at the peripheral sides. An injector for implanting an intraocular lens having the male form is also disclosed.
