MODULAR IOL DESIGN

A modular intraocular lens (IOL) with a ring configured to prevent glare artifacts. The ring includes a flange on the posterior rim, in which an anterior surface on the flange has a first profile and a posterior surface of the flange has a second profile non-parallel with the first profile. Non-parallel surfaces of the flange can be configured to defocus light transmitted at off-axis angles through an optic and the flange.

An apparatus includes an intraocular pseudophakic contact lens having an optical lens and haptics extending radially from the optical lens and configured to be inserted under an anterior leaflet of a capsular wall in an eye in order to capture and confine the haptics under the anterior leaflet and secure the intraocular pseudophakic contact lens against an artificial intraocular lens in the eye. Anterior surfaces of the haptics are configured to contact an inner capsular wall surface at the anterior leaflet. Posterior surfaces of the haptics include ridges configured to capture at least one edge of the artificial intraocular lens in order to secure the intraocular pseudophakic contact lens to the artificial intraocular lens. Different portions of the optical lens provide different amounts of magnification such that a first portion of the optical lens provides a first amount of magnification and a second portion of the optical lens provides a second amount of magnification.

DEVICE FOR SECURING ADDITIONAL DEVICES IN AN EYE WITHOUT INTERFERING WITH VISION

An eye implantation device has a body including a support system adapted to engage at three points with an iridocorneal angle of an anterior chamber of an eye into which the device is implanted.

METHOD FOR SECURING ADDITIONAL DEVICES IN AN EYE WITHOUT INTERFERING WITH VISION

A method of implanting includes steps of making a corneal incision of the eye, inserting the eye implantation device into the eye through the corneal incision and securing the eye implantation device by engaging the eye implantation device at three points with the iridocorneal angle of the anterior chamber of the eye into which the device is implanted.

An electronic intraocular device is implantable into the capsular bag of a wearer's eye. In some cases, the intraocular device may include a femtoprojector. The femtoprojector projects images onto the wearer's retina when the electronic intraocular device is implanted in the wearer's eye. Different haptic designs may be used to keep the femtoprojector in position. In some embodiments, an imager is contained in a contact lens worn by the wearer. Images captured by the contact lens imager may be relayed to the intraocular femtoprojector. In some cases, the intraocular device may include an electronic capsular tension ring with a femtoimager. The femtoimager may capture images of the wearer's retina, for example for purposes of monitoring eye health.

The present invention relates to a prosthetic capsular bag and method for inserting the same. The prosthetic capsular bag helps to maintain the volume of the natural capsular bag, thereby stabilizing the effective lens position of an IOL so that refractive outcomes may be improved with cataract surgery. The prosthetic capsular bag further provides an integrated refractive surface, providing a means for experimentally determining an effective lens position prior to inserting an IOL.
