The leaflets can have undulating cusp edge portions. The prosthetic valve further includes at least one connecting skirt having a shape that corresponds to the cusp edge portion of at least one leaflet. The connecting skirt can connect the cusp edge portion of the leaflet to at least one of the struts of the frame. The connecting skirt can include a first set of yarns intersecting with a second set of yarns. The first and second sets of yarns can extend at oblique angles relative to a longitudinal axis of the at least one strut.

Prosthetic heart valve with retention elements

Described embodiments are directed toward centrally-opening leaflet prosthetic valve devices having a leaflet frame and a leaflet construct. The leaflet construct is at least partially coupled to a leaflet frame outer side of the leaflet frame and being coupled thereto by a retention element.

An artificial heart valve includes a frame, one or more struts attached to the frame, and a leaflet configured to open and close a fluid flow path through the frame by moving in response to heartbeats. Movement of the leaflet is restricted by the one or more struts. The leaflet includes an inner leaflet body having a negative Poisson's ratio, and an outer leaflet body at least partially surrounding the inner leaflet body, the outer leaflet body having a positive Poisson's ratio.

Temperature-control during crimping of an implant

An assembly (10) for crimping a frame (56) of an implant (58) comprises a crimping device (20) with a base (22) and a crimping mechanism (24) that defines a crimping aperture (26). A bath (28) having a floor (30), and one or more side-walls (32) extending upward from the floor to a side-wall height defines a receptacle (18) that is shaped to receive a portion of the crimping device. The apparatus has an assembled state in which the portion of the crimping device has been received by the receptacle, the crimping device is held securely by the bath, and the aperture is below the side-wall height. Other embodiments are also described.

PERICARDIAL SEALING MEMBER FOR PROSTHETIC HEART VALVE

In one embodiment, an implantable prosthetic valve can comprise an annular frame comprising an inflow end and an outflow end and being radially collapsible and expandable between a radially collapsed configuration and a radially expanded configuration, and a leaflet structure positioned within the frame and secured thereto. The prosthetic valve can further comprise an outer skirt positioned around an outer surface of the frame, the outer skirt comprising pericardial tissue having a fibrous parietal layer defining a first surface of the outer skirt and a serous parietal layer defining a second surface of the outer skirt, the pericardial tissue having been fixed by cross-linking.

PROSTHETIC HEART VALVE LEAFLET COMMISSURE ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS

A prosthetic heart valve and associated methods for assembling a prosthetic heart valve including an annular frame and a plurality of leaflets is disclosed. As one example, the valve includes a plurality of commissures, each commissure including an attachment member including a protruding portion, a first commissure tab of a first leaflet of the plurality of leaflets arranged adjacent to a first side of the protruding portion and secured directly to the attachment member. Each commissure further includes a second commissure tab of a second leaflet of the plurality of leaflets arranged adjacent to an opposite, second side of the protruding portion and secured directly to the attachment member.

PROSTHETIC HEART VALVE LEAFLET ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS

Assembly methods for installing a leaflet assembly to an expandable frame of a prosthetic heart valve are described. The leaflet assembly comprises a plurality of leaflets coupled together at adjacent tabs, which form respective commissure tab assemblies. The commissure tab assemblies are inserted into corresponding windows of support members of the expandable frame. One or more wedge members are inserted into the commissure tab assembly, e.g., between the adjacent tabs or with the adjacent tabs therebetween, to restrain radial motion of the commissure tab assembly with respect to the window. The window can be a closed window, and the wedge member insertion can be after the commissure tab assembly is inserted into the window. Alternatively, the window can be an open window or channel, and the wedge member insertion can be before the commissure tab assembly is installed in the window.

PROSTHETIC HEART VALVE LEAFLET ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS

An assembly and associated method for a commissure of a prosthetic heart valve is disclosed. As one example, a method includes forming each of a plurality of commissures with a plurality of leaflets by pairing a first commissure tab of a first leaflet with an adjacent, second commissure tab of a second leaflet, folding a support strip over an inner reinforcing element, positioning the folded support strip between the first and second commissure tabs, and attaching first and second outer reinforcing elements to the first and second commissure tabs, respectively, via stitching, the stitching extending over at least a portion of the first reinforcing element opposite a fold region of the support strip, and, for each commissure, securing end portions of the support strip to a respective support portion of a frame of the prosthetic heart valve.

PROSTHETIC HEART VALVE LEAFLET ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS

An assembly and associated method for a commissure of a prosthetic heart valve is disclosed. As one example, a method includes: forming a plurality of commissures with the plurality of leaflets, wherein each commissure is formed by: pairing a first commissure tab of a first leaflet with an adjacent, second commissure tab of a second leaflet, coupling a main body of a support strip to the first and second commissure tabs via primary sutures, folding a tab portion of the support strip over the main body, and coupling the tab portion of the support strip to the main body via secondary sutures, and for each commissure, securing the commissure to a respective support portion of a frame of the prosthetic heart valve.
