RIGID SEGMENTED FLEXIBLE ANCHORS
20200197181 · 2020-06-25 · ·

A prosthetic implant replaces hyaline cartilage in a synovial joint with a flexible polymer sliding surface, preferably of hydrogel, on a segmented support with an array of adjacent segments to which the hydrogel is molded. Adjacent segments are laterally and angularly displaceable permitting the implant to conform to rounded or irregular surfaces or to be rolled or folded for arthroscopic placement. Tension cables threaded through segments along a circuit can cinch segments together for stiffening the supporting layer and/or the cable can pull the implant against a bone surface. Adjacent segments can have inter-engaged structures. In some embodiments the segments are carried on a flexible foil or fibrous sheet.

IMPLANT SPECIFIC DRILL BIT IN SURGICAL KIT FOR CARTILAGE REPAIR

A drill tool for implant surgery including a first drill part having a first, smaller diameter for drilling a recess for an implant post and a second drill part having a second, larger diameter for drilling a recess for an implant hat is disclosed. The second drill part has one or more shape cutting edges and one or more sharp pre-cutting edges extending beyond said one or more shape cutting edges.

Method for ameliorating joint conditions and diseases and preventing bone hypertrophy
10610364 · 2020-04-07 · ·

A method for ameliorating joint conditions and diseases and preventing bone hypertrophy, including facilitating cartilage regrowth and preventing bone overgrowth to a damaged bone at a treatment site within a body joint to promote healing. The method comprises providing a device having a first section comprising a joint-ward end having an inner surface and an outer surface and fenestrations between the inner and outer surfaces. A second section comprises an opposing leading end and a lateral wall extending between the joint-ward end and the leading end. The leading end is penetrated into the bone to a depth to substantially position: 1) the joint-ward end in a cartilage zone; wherein the outer surface of the joint-ward end is configured to facilitate cartilage regrowth; and 2) the second section in the bone; wherein the inner surface of the joint-ward end is configured to prevent bone overgrowth into the cartilage zone within the body joint when the device is positioned at the treatment site.

HIP JOINT INSTRUMENT AND METHOD

The present invention relates to a method of treating a hip joint of a human patient, the hip joint comprising an acetabulum, the acetabulum being a part of the pelvic bone, and a caput femur, the caput femur being the proximal part of the femoral bone, said method comprising the steps of: cutting the skin of the human patient, dissecting an area of the pelvic bone on the opposite side from the acetabulum, creating a hole in said dissected area, said hole passing through the pelvic bone and into the hip joint of the human patient, and performing an action in the hip joint, through said hole in the pelvic bone.

Partial joint resurfacing implant, instrumentation, and method

A partial resurfacing implant for use in repairing an articular cartilage defect site that includes a top articulating portion having a top surface that is configured with at least one radius of curvature to approximate the surface contour of the articular cartilage surrounding the defect site. The implant also includes a supporting plate that has a top surface and a bottom surface. The top surface is attached to the top articulating portion by a locking mechanism. The bottom surface of the supporting plate is constructed to facilitate the insertion of the implant into the defect site. Extending from the bottom surface of the supporting plate is at least one implant fixation portion. The at least one implant fixation portion is integrally connected to and is oriented about normal relative to the bottom surface. A method of repairing an articular cartilage defect with the partial joint resurfacing implant is also disclosed.

System for Articular Surface Replacement

A system for replacing a portion of an articular surface including providing an implant site and installing an implant into the implant site. The implant site includes a first and a second excision site which at least partially intersect with one another. Each of the first and second excision sites are formed by providing a respective axis and excising a portion of the articular surface relative to the respective axes.

PARTIAL JOINT RESURFACING IMPLANT, INSTRUMENTATION, AND METHOD

An implant for repairing an articular cartilage defect site including an implant fixation portion with an upper segment and at least one bone interfacing segment and a top articulating portion with an articulating surface and an engagement surface. The upper segment includes a supporting plate with a first locking mechanism segment. The engagement surface includes a second locking mechanism segment. The first locking mechanism segment with at least two channels is structured to couple to the second locking mechanism segment with at least two protrusions. The at least one bone interfacing segment structured for insertion into the articular cartilage defect site. An implant including an implant fixation portion, a top articulating portion, and a locking mechanism with a first locking segment coupled to the upper segment and a second locking segment coupled to the at least one engagement surface and structured to couple to the first locking segment.

METHODS AND DEVICES FOR PREPARING AND IMPLANTING TISSUE SCAFFOLDS

Methods and devices are provided for preparing and implanting tissue scaffolds. Various embodiments of scribing tools are provided that are configured to mark one or more predetermined shapes around a defect site in tissue. The shape or shapes marked in tissue can be used to cut a tissue scaffold having a shape that matches the shape or shapes marked in tissue. In one embodiment, the scribing tool used to mark a shape in tissue can also be used to cut the tissue scaffold.
