Sagittal balance systems and methods of use thereof
A system for dilating tissue includes a retractor having a pair of retractor blades that are movable towards and away from each other to retract tissue of a patient. The retractor blades have longitudinal guide channels. A first pin is attachable to a first vertebra. The system also includes an interbody spacer insertion device that has a guide channel for slidably engaging the longitudinal channel guide and is releasably attachable to an interbody spacer. The interbody spacer insertion device is configured to guide the interbody spacer into a space between adjacent vertebrae. A method for using the system includes advancing the retractor blades towards first and second vertebrae. The first retractor blade is attached to the first vertebra using the first pin and the retractor blades are moved away from each other. The interbody spacer insertion device is translated towards the vertebrae to position the interbody spacer between the vertebrae.
Femoral extension prosthetic component and tibial shelf prosthetic component for unicondylar meniscal bearing knee prosthesis and prosthesis including such component
A system for a unicompartmental knee replacement is described. The system can include a femoral prosthesis component, a tibial prosthesis component and a meniscal bearing. The meniscal bearing can be insertable between the femoral prosthesis component and the tibial prosthesis component. The meniscal bearing can include a first bearing surface configured to bear against the femoral prosthesis component, a second bearing surface opposed to the first bearing surface and configured to bear against the tibial prosthesis component, and a sidewall separating the first bearing surface from the second bearing surface, wherein the sidewall has a retention groove formed in a portion thereof, and wherein the meniscal bearing and the tibial prosthesis component are configured such that the retaining flange enters the retention groove on movement of the meniscal bearing relative to the tibial prosthesis component towards the medial wall.
Radial head implant
A radial head prosthesis for implantation in a distal radius. The implant includes a head portion and a stem portion. The stem portion has a cylindrical shaft and tapered tip. The head portion includes a recess for engagement with the stem portion. The head portion includes a first bearing surface for articulation with a humerus, and a second bearing surface for articulation with an ulna. The second bearing surface includes at least one concave and one convex portion immediately adjacent one another.
Ankle prosthesis
The invention concerns an ankle prosthesis (100), comprising a talar component (200) which includes a talar upper face (201) defining a first articular surface (202) and which extends between a talar anterior edge (203) and an opposite talar posterior edge (204) according to a first average direction, said first articular surface (202) being curved according to said first average direction, said first articular surface (202) comprising a first curved portion (202A) and a second curved portion (202B), each extending according to said first average direction, said first curved portion (202A) having a first curvature and said second curved portion (202B) having a second curvature, said prosthesis (100) being characterized in that said first curved portion (202A) and said second curved portion (202B) define respectively an anterior portion and a posterior portion of said first articular surface (202), said first curvature being greater than said second curvature.
Rotary Arc Patella Articulating Geometry
Disclosed herein are patellar implants and methods to prepare bone for receiving the same. The patellar implant may include an articulating surface with an elliptically shaped median ridge. The anterior surface of the patellar implant may have a non-planar surface to engage with a resected natural patella. The non-planar surface may allow for varying thickness of the patellar implant. The patellar implant may include dual attachment features to secure patellar implant to a resected patella by onlay and inlay techniques. A method for attaching a patellar implant to a patella may include onlay and inlay techniques and may further include bone preparation at the implant-bone interface.
ANKLE PROSTHESIS WITH ANATOMIC RANGE OF MOTION
An ankle prosthesis implant is disclosed herein. The ankle prosthesis implant includes a talar implant defining a superior bearing surface. The superior bearing surface includes a convex portion and a concave portion. The convex portion is defined in an anterior-posterior direction when viewed from a sagittal plane and has a neutral axis (X1) defined in a coronal plane at an anterior-posterior midline of the talar implant and extending in a medial-lateral direction. The concave portion is defined in the medial-lateral direction when viewed from the coronal plane, and the concave portion is swept about a secondary axis (X2) that is angled relative to the neutral axis (X1) upwards towards a medial end of the talar implant by an angle ().
Prosthetic implant caps
A prosthetic implant surface cap adapted for securement to an interface region of the prosthetic defined by articulating prosthetic implants. 3D printing or additive manufacturing is employed to form the surface cap adapted for securement to an identified interface region, in which the interface region is defined by engaging contact with adjacent skeletal structures in response to patient movement. The surface cap is disposed on the implant surface to contact the adjacent skeletal structures during articulated movement, and is adhered to the interface region of the prosthetic implant for absorbing and distributing the contact and frictional forces of the articulating skeletal members.
Magnetic Artificial Joint
The invention relates to a prosthesis for implantation into a living body in the form of a magnetic artificial joint, in particular an artificial shoulder joint, comprising: a) a first prosthesis member comprising a socket member, b) a second prosthesis member comprising a head member, c) one of the socket member and the head member is at least partially composed as a permanent magnet and the other one of the socket member and the head member is at least partially composed of a magnetic material, or the socket member and the head member are both at least partially composed as a permanent magnet, d) the socket member comprises a recess on a surface side to be coupled with the head member, the recess comprising a concavely contoured contact surface, e) the head member comprises a projection on a surface side to be coupled with the socket member, the projection comprising a convexly contoured contact surface, f) the convexly contoured contact surface is adapted to the concavely contoured contact surface, such that the head member can be coupled in a rotatably jointed manner to the socket member in the nature of a ball/ball-socket joint, g) wherein the convexly contoured contact surface can perform a generally slip-fee rolling motion or a combined slipping and rolling motion on the concavely contoured contact surface in reaction to a change of an angle between the first and the second prosthesis member, and the convexly contoured contact surface can be shifted across the concavely contoured contact surface within a shifting area.
