A prosthetic system that includes a prosthetic implant acrd a support structure secured to an inner surface of a cavity of a bone is disclosed. The support structure may comprise a pair of partially hemispherical components arranged in spaced apart relationship thereby defining a channel between the pair of components.

Arcuate fixation member

Arcuate fixation members with varying configurations and/or features are provided, along with additional components for use therewith in provided intervertebral implants. The arcuate fixation members may be of different lengths, cross sectional geometries, and/or cross sectional areas. Applications of intervertebral implants utilizing arcuate fixation members are particularly suitable when a linear line-of-approach for delivering fixation members is undesirable.

Systems and methods for providing deeper knee flexion capabilities. In some instances, such systems and methods include a femoral knee replacement component that includes an articular surface, a first interior surface, and a second interior surface, wherein the first and second interior surfaces run substantially parallel to each other. In some cases, the articular surface includes an anterior condylar extension that is configured to replace an anterior articular cartilage of a femur such that the anterior extension is configured to terminate adjacent to a proximal limit of the anterior articular cartilage of the femur. Other implementations are also discussed.

POROUS SURGICAL IMPLANT AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME

A surgical implant and a method for the making the surgical implant is provided. The surgical implant includes various granules incorporated into an upper surface and a lower surface of a body portion thereof. The granules can be pressed into the upper surface and the lower surface via physical force using at least one mold portion. The physical force applied by the at least one mold portion can deform and/or extrude the upper surface and the lower surface to impregnate these surfaces with the granules. The granules can provide the implant with bioresorbable and/or mechanically-reinforced properties.

FLEXIBLE, CANNULATED IMPLANTS FOR THE HAND AND FOOT

A flexible bone implant includes a proximal stem having a proximal end, a distal end, and a proximal conduit extending from the proximal end to the distal end of the proximal stem, whereby the proximal conduit is open at both the proximal and distal ends of the proximal stem. The implant includes a distal stem having a proximal end, a distal end, and a distal conduit extending from the proximal end to the distal end of the distal stem, whereby the distal conduit is open at both the proximal and distal ends of the distal stem. The implant includes a flexible hinge interconnecting the distal end of the proximal stem with the proximal end of the distal stem for allowing the proximal and distal stems to flex relative to one another. A proximal stem protective tube is disposed within the proximal conduit of the proximal stem and has a length that matches the length of the proximal conduit, and a distal stem protective tube is disposed within the distal conduit of the distal stem and has a length that matches the length of the distal conduit. The proximal stem, the distal stem and the flexible hinge comprise a unitary structure made of a polymer material.

A MOULD AND A METHOD FOR FORMING AN ORTHOPAEDIC SPACER MADE OF MEDICAL CEMENT

The modular mould (1) for forming an orthopaedic spacer made of medical cement defines a moulding cavity delimited by a moulding surface (3, 3, 3) and configured for impressing a predetermined shape on said medical cement and realising said orthopaedic spacer. The mould (1, 1) comprises a first sector (7a, 7a, 7a), defining a first portion of said surface, and a second sector (7b, 7b) defining a second portion of the surface, the first and the second portion of the surface being variable, so as to obtain spacers having variable dimensions.

Fused femoral stem system

The present invention provides a fused femoral stem system, including a curved short handle, a fixing mechanism and a femoral head prosthesis, one end of the curved short handle is provided with a conical connector, the conical connector is cooperatively connected with a conical connecting hole of the femoral head prosthesis, the other end of the curved short handle is inserted from the osteotomy surface of the femoral neck and stretches to the position of a medullary cavity below a small trochanter, and the curved short handle is connected and fixed with a large trochanter through the fixing mechanism. The present invention has the beneficial effects that, after the growing-in osseointegration with the sclerotin surrounding the proximal bone bed of the host after the surgery of the whole system, the mechanical influence on the retained femoral neck and the sclerotin in the vicinity of the large and small trochanters is substantially similar to the biomechanical state prior to the surgery.

Laser-Produced Porous Surface

A method of forming an implant having a porous tissue ingrowth structure and a bearing support structure. The method includes depositing a first layer of a metal powder onto a substrate, scanning a laser beam over the powder so as to sinter the metal powder at predetermined locations, depositing at least one layer of the metal powder onto the first layer and repeating the scanning of the laser beam.

In-situ formed intervertebral fusion device and method

An orthopedic device for implanting between adjacent vertebrae comprising: an arcuate balloon and a hardenable material within said balloon. In some embodiments, the balloon has a footprint that substantially corresponds to a perimeter of a vertebral endplate. An inflatable device is inserted through a cannula into an intervertebral space and oriented so that, upon expansion, a natural angle between vertebrae will be at least partially restored. At least one component selected from the group consisting of a load-bearing component and an osteobiologic component is directed into the inflatable device through a fluid communication means.

Angled, rigid intervertebral scaffolding

An intervertebral scaffolding system is provided having a central beam having a proximal portion having an end, a grafting portion having a top and a bottom, a distal portion having a end, a central beam axis, a graft distribution channel having an entry port at the end of the proximal portion, a top exit port at the top of the grafting portion, and a bottom exit port at the bottom of the grafting portion.
