An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, a receiving section, and a controller. The image forming section forms a plurality of images on a plurality of sheets. The receiving section receives a print job including a layout format indicating a layout of the images on the sheets. The controller controls the image forming section based on the print job. Each of the images indicates an image expressed by image data of a single page. The print job includes an instruction to form the images on the sheets according to a plurality of mutually different layout formats.

Methods and apparatuses receive, into a user interface, an instruction to combine multiple scanned pages into one or more n-up sheets. In response to receiving the instruction to combine multiple scanned pages, a resolution field is output from the user interface. A user-set resolution for the scanned pages on the n-up sheets is received into the resolution field. With this, the scanned pages are scanned at the user-set resolution using a scanner. A processor is used to combine the scanned pages together into the n-up sheets at the user-set resolution of the scanned pages resolution, and the processor outputs the n-up sheets in an electronic file.

The communication unit communicates with the information terminal. The storage unit stores data. After the first information is received, the controller transmits transmission start information of the job to the information terminal which is a transmission source of the first information. When the certification information is input by the input device, the controller executes the job corresponding to the certification information.
