Acetabular guide
An orthopedic guide that can comprise a base, a first attachment and a second attachment is disclosed. The base can have a plurality of connection features spaced from one another along a longitudinal extent. The base can be configured to seat on a rim of a bone. The first attachment can be selectively coupled to the base at a first end portion thereof and can be selectively coupled to the base at a second end portion thereof. The first attachment can be arch shaped when coupled to the base. The first attachment can define a first plurality of apertures. The second attachment can be selectively coupled to the base at a first end portion thereof and can be selectively coupled to the base at a second end portion thereof. The second attachment can be arch shaped when coupled to the base. The first attachment can define a second plurality of apertures.
Porous Structure Placement Configured For Manufacturing
A computer-generated component file for fabricating an orthopedic implant is prepared. First and second select sections of an initial implant model of a computer-aided design model are set to first and second model porous sections. A remaining section of the initial implant model is left. All regions defining the first and the second select sections are spaced not more than a preset distance from a patient-specific bone model of the computer-aided design model as measured uniformly. The first and the second model porous sections are merged with a remaining section of the initial implant model to form at least a portion of a final implant model. The final implant model is stored in a component file configured to be accessed by a computer-aided manufacturing machine for use in fabricating the orthopedic implant. At least a portion of the orthopedic implant corresponds to the final implant model.
QUANTITATIVE ASSESSMENT OF PROSTHESIS PRESS-FIT FIXATION
A system and method for quantitatively assessing a press fit value (and provide a mechanism to evaluate optimal quantitative values) of any implant/bone interface regardless the variables involved including bone site preparation, material properties of bone and implant, implant geometry and coefficient of friction of the implant-bone interface without requiring a visual positional assessment of a depth of insertion. The following description is presented to enable one of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention and is provided in the context of a patent application and its requirements.

Method and system for preparing bone for receiving an implant
A method of performing arthroplasty of an anatomical joint for receipt of an implant is disclosed. The method includes developing a preoperative plan, designing a patient specific guide based on the preoperative plan, obtaining the patient specific guide, placing the patient specific guide relative to the identified bone, fixing a pair of pins into the bone to establish an Alpha plane and executing the preoperative plan while referencing the Alpha plane. A desired amount of remaining first bone is determined based on a condition of the anatomical joint and a desired orientation of the implant. The patient specific guide includes a pair of bores defined therein and located in positions to accept a complementary pair of pins. The bores are arranged at locations on the patient specific guide to orient the respective pins in a direction optimized for surgeon access to the first bone and to establish the Alpha plane.

Composite orthopaedic prosthesis and method of making the same
An orthopaedic prosthesis includes a femoral component comprising polymeric materials. The polymeric materials may include a polyaromatic ether or a polyacetal. The orthopaedic prosthesis may include a component having an articular layer and a support layer adjacent the articular layer. The support layer may include a reinforcement fiber. The orthopaedic prosthesis may be a knee prosthesis.
MEDICAL APPARATUS, METHOD FOR RECORDING A MODEL DATASET, DATA PROCESSING PROGRAM, AND PROGRAM MEMORY MEDIUM
A medical apparatus, medical method, data processing program and program storage medium. A piece of reference position information of a reference element arranged on a bone is checked for agreement with a position of the reference element in a reference coordinate system, which is defined by a marking device and can be monitored by a navigation device. The model data set can be registered in the reference coordinate system.
Ceramic acetabular shell liner with a metal ring having a lead-in surface
An acetabular prosthesis for use in a hip arthroplasty surgical procedure is disclosed. The acetabular prosthesis includes an acetabular liner assembly to be secured to an acetabular shell component. The acetabular liner assembly includes a ceramic acetabular shell liner component. The acetabular liner assembly also includes a metal ring affixed to and encircling the ceramic acetabular shell liner component. The metal ring includes a proximal rim shaped to define a lead-in surface.
