A remote resource access interface apparatus is provided. A key input unit has keys for generating input key values. A communication unit transmits a connection establishment request message including screen resolution information to, and receives a connection establishment response message including supportable key information from, a portable device. The communication unit transmits input key information to and receives video information from the portable device after establishing the connection. A pixel information processing unit converts the video information to pixel signals for a video output unit to display as a visual image. A key advisor unit extracts supportable key information from the response message and outputs the supportable key information to the video output unit. The video information is video data adjusted in resolution based on the screen resolution information, and the input key value is mapped to one of key values indicated by the key information of the portable device.

Systems and methods for analyzing viewing behavior of users viewing video content and advertisements are provided. A system may periodically or continuously receive tune data reflecting the viewing behavior of users, analyze the viewing behavior to determine a location and time period of advertisement blocks in a viewed segment, and determine parameters reflecting a comparison between a number of viewers that viewed the advertisement blocks and a number of viewers that viewed non-advertised content. The system may also deliver a report of the analysis to advertisers, agencies, media sellers, or other parties that are interested in measuring the effectiveness of advertisements on users. The analysis by the system can be done over multiple different types of content-distribution platforms.

Various arrangements are described for ignoring inadvertent remote control key presses. A remote control may detect a first key press, the first key press being linked with a first command. The remote control may measure an orientation of the remote control with respect to a direction of gravity. The remote control may compare the measured orientation of the remote control with threshold orientation angles. The first command may be ignored based on comparing the measured orientation of the remote control with the threshold orientation angles.

A device is presented. The device comprises: at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, a display element coupled to the processor, and a user input element coupled to the processor. The computer program code and the at least one memory are configured, with the at least one processor, to cause the device to: play an omnidirectional video comprising a series of image frames, display a portion of the image frames of the played omnidirectional video on the display element, receive a user input from the user input element, the user input comprising selection of an object of interest in the displayed portion of at least one image frame of the played omnidirectional video, identify the object of interest in at least one image frame of the played omnidirectional video based on the user input, track the selected object of interest in consequent image frames of the played omnidirectional video, and adjust the displayed portion of the consequent image frames of the played omnidirectional video so that the tracked object of interest remains in the displayed portion. A system and method for analyzing the viewing behavior of end users that are viewing video content to determine the likely presence of one or more advertisements being viewed and to assess the viewers who stop viewing during the course of such advertisements. The system periodically or continuously receives tune data reflecting the viewing behavior of end users, analyzes the cumulative viewing behavior reflected by the received tune data, and delivers a report of the analysis to advertisers, agencies, media sellers, or other parties that are interested in measuring the effectiveness of advertisements on end users. The analysis by the system can be done over multiple different types of content-distribution platforms.

Various arrangements are described for ignoring inadvertent remote control key presses. A remote control may detect multiple key presses associated with various commands. It may be determined whether the first key press and the second key press have occurred within a predefined threshold time period. If the key presses occurred within the threshold time period, the first command and the second command may be ignored. Additional or alternate factors may be considered in determining whether one or more key presses of the remote control should be ignored.

One embodiment of the present invention is a channel loading method, comprising: storing channel parameters; generating a channel loading instruction according to a status of an operation menu and a user instruction; acquiring the channel parameters when the channel loading instruction is obtained, and loading the acquired channel parameters into a television service list database. Another embodiment is a display device having a channel parameter storing module and a channel loading method. A non-transient storage medium is also a part of the present invention.
