The disclosure is directed to a resilient implant for implantation into human or animal joints to act as a cushion allowing for renewed joint motion. The implant endures variable joint forces and cyclic loads while reducing pain and improving function after injury or disease to repair, reconstruct, and regenerate joint integrity. The implant is deployed in a prepared debrided joint space, secured to at least one of the joint bones and expanded in the space, molding to surrounding structures with sufficient stability to avoid extrusion or dislocation. The implant has opposing walls that move in varied directions, and an inner space filled with suitable filler to accommodate motions which mimic or approximate normal joint motion. The implant pads the damaged joint surfaces, restores cushioning immediately and may be employed to restore cartilage to normal by delivering regenerative cells.

Femoral neck prosthesis

The invention relates to a shaft for a femoral neck prosthesis, which comprises an anchoring area (27, 29) which is arranged inside the femur in order to anchor the prosthesis into bone, a head area which is axially adjacent to the anchoring area (27, 29) on the proximal side, said head area comprising a device (13) which is connected to the prosthesis head (15), in addition to a distal end which is arranged opposite the head area in the axial direction of the anchoring area (27, 29). The invention is characterised in that the maximum cross-sectional dimension of the head area is at the most equal and, in particular, smaller than the maximum diameter of the anchoring area (27, 29), in such a manner that the maximum cross-sectional dimension of the shaft (11) is in the anchoring area (27, 29).

A method for preparing a first bone for receiving a prosthesis. The method includes coupling a revision alignment member to a template; positioning an offset alignment bushing relative to the revision alignment member; positioning the offset alignment bushing at the first bone such that an intramedullary member seated in the first bone extends through a passage defined by the offset alignment bushing; replacing the offset alignment bushing with a first bone cutting bushing; cutting the first bone using the first bone cutting bushing as a guide; replacing the first bone cutting bushing with an offset second bone cutting bushing; providing the second bone cutting bushing with a rotational orientation corresponding to a rotational orientation of the offset alignment bushing; and cutting the first bone using the offset second bone cutting bushing as a guide to prepare the bone to receive an offset prosthesis adapter.

Femoral prosthesis head

A prosthetic head for a femoral component has a metal shell with a tapered cavity. The shell has a part-spherical outer surface defining an inner portion terminating in an open end. A polymeric material completely fills the inner portion of the hollow shell extending from an inner surface of the shell to the open end. The polymeric material includes a conically tapered socket centered about the polar axis intermediate ends of the open end wherein the shell is a hollow titanium shell having an inner surface with a porous structure for receiving a portion of the polymeric material. The hollow titanium shell inner surface has at least one rib extending inwardly toward the conically tapered socket.
