Prosthesis for a fractured long bone

The invention concerns a prosthesis comprising: a stem part comprising: a rod, configured for being inserted into a medullary cavity of a diaphyseal fragment of a fractured long bone, for securing the stem part to the diaphyseal fragment, and an epiphyseal end, fixedly secured to the rod by means of at least one linker leg of the stem part, so that a gap is formed between the epiphyseal end and the rod along said at least one linker leg; and an implant distinct from the stem part and comprising: an internal part located at least partially within the gap, and at least one fastener for fastening epiphyseal fragments of the fractured long bone to the stem part, said at least one fastener being secured to the internal part.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FITTING A SHOULDER PROSTHESIS

Method and set of surgical instruments for fitting a shoulder prosthesis, and the shoulder prosthesis. The proposed method seeks to interpose a bone graft between the previously prepared glenoid surface (G) of a scapula (S) of a patient's shoulder and the face of a glenoid prosthetic component opposite the articular surface. The set of instruments permit the bone graft to be taken from the upper epiphysis of the humerus (H), either in situ or ex vivo.

HUMERAL HEAD IMPLANT SYSTEM
20190350719 · 2019-11-21 ·

A humeral head implant system includes a head component including a first articulating surface, a second bottom surface extending from the first spherical articulating surface, a first cavity extending a first distance into the head component from the second bottom surface, and a second cavity extending into the head component along a cavity axis. The head component defines a head axis extending through a center of the first articulating surface parallel to the cavity axis. A base component defines a slot extending from a first width to a second width. An insert component includes an insert body, a first engagement feature, and a slot engagement feature. The first engagement feature is received in the second cavity along the cavity axis. The insert body has an insert thickness less than the first distance, and the slot engagement feature slides into the slot in a direction transverse to the cavity axis.

A humerus head implant includes a head cap, a fixing component, and a bone-screw component. The head cap has a shape of half-an-ellipsoid extending into a positive z-direction along the z-axis, in positive and negative x-directions, and in positive and negative y-directions. The extension along the x-direction is in a range of 0.8 to 0.95 of the extension in the y-direction. There is a conical recess having a center axis that is displaced in the negative y-direction with respect to the z-axis and configured to interface with a conical section of the fixing component. This allows for rotation of the head cap relative to the fixing component.

IMPLANTS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME

Implants, device, systems and methods for replacing an articulation surface in a joint, for example, shoulder prostheses with stemless humeral components or stemmed humeral components. Methods for using the shoulder prostheses with stemless humeral components or stemmed humeral components are also disclosed.

Stemless shoulder implant with fixation components

A humeral anchor assembly is provided that includes a humeral anchor and at least one screw. The humeral anchor is configured to form a part of or support a part of a shoulder prosthesis. The humeral anchor has a distal portion configured to be anchored in a proximal region of a humerus and a proximal portion. The proximal portion includes a proximal face configured to engage an articular component within a periphery thereof. The proximal portion also includes at least one aperture disposed adjacent to the periphery. The at least one screw is disposed through the at least one aperture. The screw has a first end portion engaged with the proximal portion of the anchor and a second end portion disposed in or through cortical bone of the humerus.

A stemless humeral shoulder assembly having a base member and an anchor advanceable into the base member. The base member can include a distal end that can be embedded in bone and a proximal end that can be disposed at a bone surface. The base member can also have a plurality of spaced apart arms projecting from the proximal end to the distal end. The anchor can project circumferentially into the arms and into a space between the arms. When the anchor is advanced into the base member, the anchor can be exposed between the arms. A recess can project distally from a proximal end of the anchor to within the base member. The recess can receive a mounting member of an anatomical or reverse joint interface.

Adjustable orthopedic connections

The disclosure includes methods and systems for making orthopedic connections where there is unique adjustability to the connection. Illustratively, one embodiment provides a connecting assembly for connecting a plurality of orthopedic components. Such connecting assemblies can include a first orthopedic component that provides a female bore. Additionally the assembly can include a second orthopedic component that can be or include a male-type connecting member that is positionable in the bore of the first orthopedic component. In one preferred form, the male-type connecting member will be a quasi-spherical member. The quasi-spherical member can include a textured outer surface, e.g., for contacting one or more walls or surfaces in the bore in a fashion that removeably locks or helps to removeably lock or fix the quasi-spherical member in the bore.
