SHOULDER ARTHROPLASTY SYSTEM
An implant system for total shoulder arthroplasties, hemi shoulder arthroplasties, and reverse total shoulder arthroplasties including a humeral stem having an enlarged head portion with interfaces adapted to removably receive various modular interchangeable components, such as articulating liners, spacers, and adapter inserts. The humeral stem functions as a universal platform that may be used in either conventional or reverse total shoulder arthroplasties, as well as hemi shoulder arthroplasties, and may remain implanted in place during a revision in which the implant system is converted between the foregoing configurations, for example.
MODULAR HUMERAL IMPLANT
Modular humeral implants and methods of use. A humeral implant can include a stem portion, a metaphyseal portion, a locking element, and an intermediate portion. The intermediate portion can include at least one spacer. Each spacer can include a proximal engagement feature, a distal engagement feature, a lumen extending longitudinally through the spacer, and a pin slidable within the lumen of the spacer. Distal movement of a locking element in the metaphyseal portion can translate the pin of each spacer to secure the metaphyseal portion, the intermediate portion, and the stem portion in a locked configuration.
Multi-user collaboration and workflow techniques for orthopedic surgical procedures using mixed reality
An example mixed reality (MR) system includes a first MR device configured to present first medical information and first real-world information to a first user via a first MR presentation; a second MR device configured to provide second medical information and second real-world information to a second user via a second MR presentation; and a third device configured to provide third information to a third user, wherein the third information is based at least in part on the first MR presentation or the second MR presentation.
PROSTHETIC HAVING A MODULAR SOFT TISSUE FIXATION MECHANISM
A method and apparatus for coupling soft tissue to a prosthetic is disclosed. Soft tissue attachment pads having porous metal attachment regions and suture accepting holes are selectively positioned onto an implantable prosthetic to provide coupling locations.
Automated instrument or component assistance using mixed reality in orthopedic surgical procedures
An example medical device system includes a plurality of surgical items; and a visualization device configured to present a mixed reality (MR) presentation to a user; and one or more processors configured to select a surgical item of the plurality of surgical items based on a surgical procedure and present, in the MR presentation, virtual information that identifies the selected surgical item among the plurality of surgical items, wherein the virtual information is presented on or adjacent a position of the selected surgical item visible via the visualization device.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SHOULDER PROSTHESES
A modular reverse shoulder prosthesis according to embodiments of the present invention includes a stem having a proximal taper and a primary stem axis, the proximal taper extending from the stem about a metaphyseal axis, the metaphyseal axis at an angle with respect to the primary stem axis, a metaphysis having a proximal end, a distal end, a first aperture in the distal end configured to be placed over the proximal taper, and a second aperture in the proximal end having an insert axis that is eccentrically offset from the metaphyseal axis, the metaphysis configured for attachment to the stem at any rotational position of the metaphysis about the metaphyseal axis, and a reverse insert, the reverse insert having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end comprises a concave cup formed about a cup axis and configured to receive a glenosphere, and wherein the distal end comprises a locking protrusion, wherein the locking protrusion has an outer surface with a cross-sectional shape that is rotationally symmetrical about the insert axis with respect to a corresponding inner surface of the second aperture, wherein the rotational symmetry has an order of six, seven, eight, nine, or ten.
Ball and socket joint system and method therefor
A system is disclosed herein for providing a kinetic assessment and preparation of a prosthetic joint comprising one or more prosthetic components. The system comprises a prosthetic component including sensors and circuitry configured to measure load, position of load on a curved surface, joint stability, range of motion, and impingement. In one embodiment, the system is for a ball and socket joint of a musculoskeletal system. The system further includes a computer having a display configured to graphical display quantitative measurement data to support rapid assimilation of the information. The kinetic assessment measures joint alignment under loading that will be similar to that of a final joint installation. The kinetic assessment can use trial or permanent prosthetic components. Furthermore, adjustments can be made to the applied load magnitude, position of load, and joint alignment by various means to fine-tune an installation.
Surgical Tool And Method Of Use
The present disclosure generally relates to a surgical tool for use in shoulder arthroplasty. The surgical tool includes a humeral head cut guide configured to fit within a rotator interval of a subject in need of shoulder arthroplasty. The cut guide can further include a top surface, a bottom surface, a front surface, a back surface, and at least two sides. The surgical tool can also have at least two nonconverging pin holes and a receiving portion configured to permit reversible attachment of the cut guide to an attachment arm assembly.
