IMPLANT FOR A BONE JOINT

An implant (30) for a mammalian bone joint (3) for spacing a first bone (2) of the joint from a second bone (1) of the joint while allowing translational movement of the second bone in relation to the first bone is described. The implant comprises (a) a distal part (31) configured for intramedullary engagement with an end of the second bone, (b) a proximal part (34) having a platform (15) configured for non-engaging abutment of an end of the first bone and translational movement thereon, and (c) an articulating coupling (10, 16) provided between the distal and proximal ends allowing controlled articulation of the first and second bones. The bone-abutting platform is shaped to conform to and translate upon the end of the first bone. A kit for assembly to form the implant of the invention, and the use of the implant to treat osteoarthritis in a bone joint, are also described.

Arthrodesis implant and instrument for gripping such an implant

An arthrodesis implant (1) allowing promoting the bone fusion of two bones is provided, the implant (1) comprising: a rigid and non-deformable anchoring body (4), designed to ensure the anchoring of the implant (1) in a first bone (2), and a deformable portion (5) designed to ensure the anchoring of the implant (1) in a second bone. The deformable portion (5) comprises at least two anchoring arms (9, 10) which protrude beyond the anchoring body (4) from the base end (7) of the anchoring body (4), the anchoring arms (9, 10) being separated from each other by a free space (E) so as to be able to be brought closer to each other by deformation of the anchoring arms under the action of the second bone. At least one of the anchoring arms (9, 10) is provided with a longitudinal reinforcing fin protruding beyond the anchoring arm (9, 10) from a lateral side (20) of the anchoring arm (9, 10).

Carpometacarpal (CMC) implants and methods

Implants suitable for use in a carpometacarpal joint includes an upper surface, a lower surface, and sidewalls extending between the upper surface and the lower surface. The implant includes hydrogel material such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel. Kits can include systems for preparing an implantation site, creating a cavity, and/or deploying the implant. Methods of treating a carpometacarpal joint include deploying an implant in a recess in a carpometacarpal bone.

Percutaneous device

An intracorporeal portion of a percutaneous device for a joint disarticulation prosthesis or joint replacement prosthesis, the intracorporeal portion having an extracorporeal portion or having means for rigidly coupling directly to an extracorporeal portion, the extracorporeal portion being for location exterior to the skin, the intracorporeal portion having an articulating component for articulating with an articulating surface, wherein the articulating component is intracorporeal when installed in a human or animal subject.

WHOLLY PATIENT-SPECIFIC ORTHOPEDIC IMPLANTS AND IMPLANTING APPRATUSES, SYSTEM AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF

The present invention involves orthopedic implants of small joints in human, in particular a truly patient-specific bone implanting system comprising the implant and surgical tools fabricated by additive manufacturing techniques based on the inputs conforming to each patient's anatomy and obtainable from a wide range of existing 3-dimensional imaging and image processing technologies, which offers a substantial progress in logistics, efficiency of surgical operation, and functionality of treated bones.

ORTHOPEDIC IMPLANTS HAVING GRADIENT POLYMER ALLOYS

Orthopedic implants having a bone interface member and a water swellable IPN or semi-IPN with a stiffness, hydration, and/or composition gradient from one side to the other and physically attached to the bone interface member. The invention also includes an orthopedic implant system including an implant that may conform to a bone surface and a joint capsule. The invention also includes orthopedic implants with water swellable IPN or semi-IPNs including a hydrophobic thermoset or thermoplastic polymer first network and an ionic polymer second network, joint capsules, labral components, and bone interface members. The invention also includes a method of inserting an orthopedic implant having a metal portion and a flexible polymer portion into a joint, including inserting the implant in a joint in a first shape and changing the implant from a first shape to a second shape to conform to a shape of a bone.

Antibiotic delivery system and method for treating an infected synovial joint during re-implantation of an orthopedic prosthesis

An antibiotic delivery system including an intramedullary stem that is adapted to be removably mounted into a medullary canal of a bone. The stem includes a body having an inlet adapted to be in fluid communication with a source of liquid-borne antibiotic and a plurality of outlets disposed along the stem. A channel extends between the inlet and the plurality of outlets for delivering a fluid-borne antibiotic from the inlet to the plurality of outlets so as to distribute the antibiotic along the medullary canal in a controlled fashion. A method of treating an infected joint during a two-stage re-implantation of an orthopedic implant is also disclosed.
