Interlaminar Fixation Device
20190201216 · 2019-07-04 ·

An interlaminar fixation device (ILFD) and related tools for implanting and extracting the ILFD in surgical procedures to provide support for patients having degenerative spinal conditions. The ILFD comprises an implant body, a pair of fixation pin assemblies, and a locking plug. The body may be a boxlike structure made of a material such as polyetheretherketone (PEEK) or other material with similar beneficial properties. An implant-sizing tool is provided for determining the appropriately sized ILFD. An implant-grasper tool is provided for grasping the ILFD for insertion and positioning of the ILFD. A bone-punch tool is provided for creating openings aligned for insertion of fixation pins. A pin-inserter tool is provided for urging fixation pins into position. A locking-plug inserter tool is provided for inserting the locking plug into the body of the ILFD. A locking-plug extractor tool is provided for removing the locking plug.

EXPANDABLE IMPLANT DEVICE

Expandable implant devices including first and second endplates, wherein a first side of the first endplate is moveably attached to a first side of the second endplate; and an expansion mechanism is disposed between the first and second endplates adjacent the second side of the endplates opposite the first side, wherein actuating the expansion mechanism changes an angle between the first endplate and the second endplate.

ARTIFICIAL INTERVERTEBRAL IMPLANT

An intervertebral implant includes a core member operably coupled between an upper and a lower base member. An outer cavity extends between the core member upper end and lower end, and radially between the inner cavity and an outer surface of the core member. A core member inner wall is formed between the inner and an outer cavity, and a core member outer wall is formed between the outer cavity and the outer surface of the core member. A first locking member is positioned on at least one of the core member upper end and the core member lower end and at least one second locking member is positioned on an inner surface of at least one of the upper and lower base member for locking engagement. The upper and lower end of the core member are oriented at a lordotic angle ranging from 1 degrees to 20 degrees.

Expandable interbody fusion device

An apparatus and method is provided for interbody fusion including distracting, in a given direction, and supporting opposing vertebral bodies. A plurality of wafers are consecutively inserted between the vertebral bodies to create a column of wafers. The column of wafers is oriented between the vertebral bodies so as to expand in the given direction as the wafers are consecutively added to the column.

Stand alone intervertebral fusion device

An angled fixation device, such as an angled screw. This angled fixation device may be used by the surgeon to secure a spacer to a spinal disc space. The proximal end portion of the angled fixation device is driven perpendicular to the anterior wall of the spacer, and so is parallel to the vertebral endplates and in-line with the inserter. The distal end portion of the angled fixation device is oriented at about a 45 degree angle (plus or minus 30 degrees) to the vertebral endplate it enters.

The present invention relates generally to medical devices, systems, and methods for use in surgery. In particular, the disclosed system and methods relate to an intervertebral spinal implant sized and dimensioned for the lumbar spine implantable via a posterior approach. The system includes an implant, instruments for delivering the implant.

INTERVERTEBRAL IMPLANT DEVICES AND METHODS FOR INSERTION THEREOF

An implant device is provided that is configured for implantation at multiple locations between adjacent vertebrae. The implant device comprises an implant body, a first portion of the implant body, and a second portion of the implant body adjustably interconnected with the first portion. The implant body has a compact orientation and an extended orientation to allow the implant body to be shifted from one orientation to the other orientation for being positioned in any one of areas between the spinous processes of the adjacent vertebrae, between laminar regions of the adjacent vertebrae, spanning an opening in the annulus between the adjacent vertebrae, and in the intervertebral space between the adjacent vertebrae.

EXPANDABLE SPACER AND METHOD FOR USE THEREOF

An expandable implant is disclosed having an adjustable height for insertion between two adjacent bony structures or joint surfaces, for example between two adjacent spinal vertebrae. The implant includes at least one gear associated with at least one threaded shaft. Rotation of the gear engages the threaded shaft to expand the implant. The implant can be inserted in a collapsed configuration and expanded in situ. The invention also provides methods for using the implant to facilitate arthrodesis or fusion of adjacent joint surfaces or spinal vertebrae.

DECOUPLED SPACER AND PLATE AND METHOD OF INSTALLING THE SAME
20190192310 · 2019-06-27 ·

Intervertebral spacer assemblies, systems, and methods thereof. A method of insertion includes inserting an intervertebral spacer and plate together using an insertion tool and, upon removal of the insertion tool, the intervertebral spacer and plate are no longer considered connected/coupled and act as separate components.

Pivotable interbody implant system

An interbody implant system is provided. The interbody implant system includes an implant having an engagement surface and an instrument including a first member and a second member that is movable relative to the first member. The first member is configured to capture the implant and the second member includes an interface configured to engage the engagement surface to releasably lock the implant in at least one orientation relative to the second member. The at least one of the engagement surface and the interface include at least one planar face. Methods of use are disclosed.
