Decoupled spacer and plate and method of installing the same
Intervertebral spacer assemblies, systems, and methods thereof. A method of insertion includes inserting an intervertebral spacer and plate together using an insertion tool and, upon removal of the insertion tool, the intervertebral spacer and plate are no longer considered connected/coupled and act as separate components.
Expandable spinal implant system and method
A spinal implant includes a first member having a wall that defines an axial cavity. A second member extends between a first end and a second end and defines a longitudinal axis. The second member is configured for disposal with the axial cavity and translation relative to the first member. A third member has an outer surface engageable with tissue and an inner surface disposed to dynamically engage the first end in response to the engagement of the outer surface with the tissue. Systems and methods are disclosed.
Coiling implantable prostheses and methods for implanting
An implantable prosthesis that includes a biased coiling member and a conforming coiling member. The biased coiling member may be biased to curve from a substantially linear configuration to a nonlinear configuration. The conforming coiling member may be engaged with and curved by the biased coiling member from the substantially linear configuration to the nonlinear configuration. The biased coiling member may define a longitudinal axis when in the substantially linear configuration. The biased coiling member and the conforming coiling member may move relative to each other along the longitudinal axis. The prosthesis may be implanted in a surgical procedure that minimizes incision sizes and may be considered less invasive than typical implant procedures, especially spinal implant procedures.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ADJACENT VERTEBRAL FIXATION
The present invention relates to systems and methods for spinal fusion procedures that can allow all components of the spinal fusion procedure to be inserted into the wound of a patient at once, and can thus minimize the number of components that must be separately inserted into a wound. This can be accomplished by providing a intervertebral fixation system that allows an intervertebral cage, vertebral fixation plate, and drill guides to be assembled into a single unit prior to insertion into a patient.
Intervertebral support
An intervertebral support device to impose an anatomic distance between two adjacent vertebral bodies having a pair of vertebral support elements for introduction between the edge portions of the rear half of the vertebrae, at respective substantially symmetrical positions of the instantaneous rotation axis of the natural relative flexion-extension movement of the two adjacent vertebrae. The device assists stabilizing and/or restoring the correct position of the rotation axis, which characterizes the first stage of the degenerative breakdown, without significantly limiting the relative movement of the two vertebrae. The support elements have preferably a constraint means that constrains them to the edge portions of the vertebral bodies, in particular to resist the reaction force on the intervertebral disc.
Intervertebral implant
An adjustable spinal fusion intervertebral implant is provided that can comprise upper and lower body portions that can each have proximal and distal wedge surf aces disposed at proximal and distal ends thereof. An actuator shaft disposed intermediate the upper and lower body portions can be actuated to cause proximal and distal protrusions to converge towards each other and contact the respective ones of the proximal and distal wedge surfaces. Such contact can thereby transfer the longitudinal movement of the proximal and distal protrusions against the proximal and distal wedge surfaces to cause the separation of the upper and lower body portions, thereby expanding the intervertebral implant. The upper and lower body portions can have side portions that help facilitate linear translational movement of the upper body portion relative to the lower body portion.
FLEXIBLE ANCHORING AND FUSION DEVICES AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
A spacer member is provided that is configured to be implanted adjacent an anatomical structure. The spacer member defines a curved bore, a first opening in a side wall of the spacer member and a second opening in one of a top wall and a bottom wall of the spacer member. Each of the first opening and the second opening are in fluid communication with the curved bore. A flexible anchoring member is configured to be inserted through the side opening and through the curved bore of the spacer member such that a distal end portion of the flexible anchoring member extends out of the second opening at an angle relative to the one of the top wall and the bottom wall of the spacer member.
IMPLANT MATERIAL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE IMPLANT MATERIAL
An implant material may comprise a hole in at least one direction, and a member constituting the hole may comprise grooves. The member constituting the hole may be composed of a pillar and/or a plate. The grooves may be provided in the pillars and/or the plates. Further, a method of manufacturing the implant material may include manufacturing the implant material using a 3D modeling method.
Intersomatic cage, intervertebral prosthesis, anchoring device and implantation instruments
An intersomatic cage, an intervertebral prosthesis, an anchoring device and an instrument for implantation of the cage or the prosthesis and the anchoring device are provided. An intersomatic cage or an intervertebral prosthesis fit closely to the anchoring device, which includes a body of elongated shape on a longitudinal axis, of curved shape describing, along the longitudinal axis, an arc whose dimensions and radius of curvature are designed in such a manner that the anchoring device may be implanted in the vertebral plate of a vertebra by presenting its longitudinal axis substantially along the plane of the intervertebral space, where the anchoring device is inserted, by means of the instrument, through a slot located in at least one peripheral wall of the cage or on at least one plate of the intervertebral disc prosthesis to penetrate into at least one vertebral plate.
Intervertebral disc prosthesis and intervertebral prosthetic unit
An intervertebral disc prosthesis (1) having at least one upper plateau (4, 4′) and at least one lower plateau (5, 5′), which are separated by two movable cores (6, 6′) whose lower face (62, 62′) and upper face (61, 61′) respectively match a concave surface (54, 54′) of the upper plateau (4, 4′) and a convex surface (44, 44′) of the lower plateau (5, 5′). An intervertebral prosthetic unit (10) is also described having an intervertebral disc prosthesis and a posterior articular prosthesis (11) provided with two adjacent and partially tangent articular blades (12, 13), which are each coupled to a vertebra (3, 3′) by coupling devices (14) and are connected by guide devices that allow them to move along a curve whose center C3 is provided on the same side as the implantation of said coupling means.
