The cutting surface of the cannula may be positioned at or adjacent the distal end, and positioned at least in part radially outward of the outer face of the cannula. The cannula may include a cutting surface positioned at or adjacent the distal end and an occluding geometry that partially occludes the distal end of the cannula adjacent the cutting surface. In addition, a suction port may be provided in communication with the bone receptacle.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ALLOGRAFTING
In one embodiment, a cutting guide is disclosed for use in a surgical procedure to removed damaged tissue from a patient and form a recipient site configured and dimensioned to receive a donor graft. The cutting guide includes a first aim that abuts a section of the damaged tissue to be removed, and a second arm including a hole and a slot that receives a cutting implement, the first arm and the slot defining a distance therebetween corresponding to a desired dimension of the recipient site. In another embodiment, a cutting guide is disclosed for use in forming a donor graft from donor tissue. The cutting guide includes a body that receives the donor tissue, and a shaping member that is rotatably secured to the body. The shaping member includes at least one vane that shapes the donor tissue so as to form the donor graft.
TISSUE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INFUSING BIOACTIVE AGENTS INTO TISSUE
A tissue treatment apparatus and method for treating bone tissue has a controller, an enclosure, a reagent supply system, a draining configuration, and a gas relief valve is controlled by the controller. A bioactive agent may be applied through the reagent supply system. Optionally provided is a gas evacuation assembly, a gas supply unit, a thermal unit for heating or cooling reagents or gases, a sonication unit, any or each operated by the controller. The method provides for programming controller to effect a treatment procedure. In an embodiment of the present application the treatment procedure effects demineralization of the bone material.
Bone Fragment Collector and Processor
A device for collecting and processing bone fragments comprises a housing and a filter element disposed in the housing. The filter element at least partially defines a collection chamber for the collection of a composition comprising bone fragments. An inlet cap is releasably coupled to either the housing or to the filter element and configured to receive the composition. The inlet cap includes a body, an inlet port extending from the body and configured to be coupled to a surgical tool, and a spout extending from the body opposite the inlet port. The spout includes an injection port extending into the collection chamber of the filter element. A outlet cap is releasably coupled to the housing and is configured to be coupled to a vacuum source.
Graft collection and containment system for bone defects
A device for containing bone graft material comprises a body including an inner sleeve extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and an outer sleeve surrounding the inner sleeve and extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end such that a bone graft collecting space is formed therebetween.
Methods of using water-soluble inorganic compounds for implants
A method for controlling generation of biologically desirable voids in a composition placed in proximity to bone or other tissue in a patient by selecting at least one water-soluble inorganic material having a desired particle size and solubility, and mixing the water-soluble inorganic material with at least one poorly-water-soluble or biodegradable matrix material. The matrix material, after it is mixed with the water-soluble inorganic material, is placed into the patient in proximity to tissue so that the water-soluble inorganic material dissolves at a predetermined rate to generate biologically desirable voids in the matrix material into which bone or other tissue can then grow.
Instruments for preparing bone implants
A system includes a cutting guide and a cutting template. The cutting guide has a body including a plurality of sides that together define a cavity that is accessible via an opening defined by a first side of the plurality of sides. A second side of the plurality of sides defines at least two elongate slots. The second side is disposed adjacent to the first side and at a distance from an opposed third side. Each of the at least two slots is in communication with the cavity and disposed at a different location along the second side. The cutting template has a body defining at least one elongate slot. The cutting template is configured to be engaged with the cutting guide such that the at least one elongate slot of the cutting template aligns with at least one of the at least two elongate slots of the cutting guide.
Bone harvester and bone marrow removal system and method
A bone harvester and bone marrow removal system. The bone harvester can include a body defining a channel extending longitudinally therethrough from a distal to a proximal portion of the body. The distal portion can include a cutting tip. Bone marrow may be drawn through the channel.
