PROSTHETIC DIGIT WITH ARTICULATING LINKS
Features for prosthetic digits are described. The digits mimic natural fingers by having multiple articulating segments, for example three, that can rotate varying amounts. Rotatable and/or linearly expandable mechanical links are configured to provide the digit segments with multiple degrees of rotational freedom. The digit may have an actuator that outputs linear actuation to cause rotation of the digit segments. The digit may have an expandable proximal link to allow for variable relative rotational positions of the segments. Middle and/or distal digit segments may fully rotate independent of rotation of a proximal digit segment. The rotated digit may thus fully surround and grasp small or large objects, objects with irregular outer contours, etc.
HIGH DENSITY DISTANCE SENSOR ARRAY ALTERNATIVE TO SURFACE ELECTROMYOGRAPHY FOR THE CONTROL OF POWERED UPPER LIMB PROSTHESES
Systems and methods for a wearable sensor system including a compressible material, a two-dimensional array of distance sensors, a support structure, and a controller. The compressible material is positionable relative to a tissue surface and the two-dimensional array of distance sensors is configured relative to the compressible material to detect compressive deformations of the compressible material. The support structure is configured to hold the compressible material in place relative to the tissue surface such that muscle movements at the tissue surface cause the compressive deformations of the compressible material and is also configured to restrict movement of the two-dimensional array during the muscle movements. The controller is configured to receive a signal from the two-dimensional array indicative of the compressive deformation of the compressive material at a location of each distance sensor
HAND PROSTHESIS
The invention relates to a hand prosthesis that can be adapted at the forearm or wrist. The prosthesis including a mechanical design with a smaller number of parts than the prior art, thus facilitating the assembly, maintenance and production thereof. Likewise, the prosthesis includes a plurality of motion transmission systems in a housing similar to the volume of a biological hand and provides sufficient grip strength to reincorporate the user into everyday activities. The invention includes an adult hand prosthesis, a child hand prosthesis and a wrist that allows the user to hold heavy loads while moving around.
SENSOR FOR PROSTHETIC CONTROL
A sensor assembly for a prosthetic or orthotic device (POD) may include a housing and a support. The housing may be attached with the POD. The support may be moveably connected with the housing such that the support may move relative to the housing. The support may form an enclosure with the housing. Within the enclosure, the sensor assembly may include one or more sensors and a circuit board. The one or more sensors may include one or more of an inertial measurement unit, an electromyography sensor, or a distance sensor such as a magnetic sensor and a magnet. The circuit board may be attached with the support and in electrical communication with the plurality of sensors. Movement of the support may cause the sensors to move which may be detected for control of the POD. The sensor assembly may be attached to an arm or other prosthetic socket for detection of natural limb movements.
BELOW-ELBOW PROSTHETIC ARM ASSEMBLY
A below-elbow prosthetic arm assembly includes a hand; an arm connected to the hand; a cylinder connected to the arm; and a string connected to the rear end of the cylinder. To start using the prosthetic arm, the user's amputated upper limb is enclosed by the cylinder and tied thereto with a string. The below-elbow prosthetic arm assembly further includes an expansion kit adapted to meet the user's needs in daily lives, learning and sports. The expansion kit is directly fitted to the hand. Function expansion is achieved without removing the hand. Therefore, the below-elbow prosthetic arm exhibits enhanced ease of use and minimizes the user's financial burdens which might otherwise arise from ordering customized prosthetic arms for use in different activities.
ARM PROSTHETIC DEVICE
A prosthetic arm apparatus comprising a plurality of segments that provide a user of the prosthetic arm apparatus with substantially the same movement capability and function as a human arm. The segments are connectable to one another and connectable to a harness mount that may be adorned by the user. Each segment of the plurality of segments provides a portion of the movement capability, enabling the plurality of connected segments connected to the harness mount to provide substantially the same movement capability as that lacking in the user.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROL OF A PROSTHETIC
A prosthetic device control apparatus includes at least one sensor worn by a user. The sensor(s) determines a user's movement. A control module is in communication with the sensor(s). The control module communicates movement information to a prosthetic. A method for controlling a prosthetic device includes sensing a user's movement, communicating the movement through a control module to a prosthetic device; and controlling the movement of a prosthetic device.
SPRINGS WITH STRAIN FEEDBACK
Springs can provide energy return and have a conductivity that changes in relation to an amount of strain or deformation of the spring. In some embodiments, the springs are made by multi-material 3D printing (additive manufacturing). Such springs made by multi-material 3D printing may include a first material that is electrically non-conductive and a second material that electrically conductive. The extent of deformation or strain of the spring may be determined or estimated by measuring the conductivity or resistivity of the electrically conductive material portion of the spring.
Prosthetic hand
Prosthetic hand (1) with a wrist (13) and provided with a hand palm (2) and fingers (4) attached to the hand palm (2), wherein the hand palm (2) and fingers (4) comprise bars (5) and joints (6) connecting the bars (5) forming a construction (7) supported by the wrist (13), wherein said bars (5) occupy a position with reference to each other de-pending on an external load applied to the construction (7), wherein a reaction force for said load applied to the construction (7) is provided by or through the wrist (13), and wherein the construction (7) has an unloaded position wherein the fingers (4) are stretched and a plurality of loaded positions corresponding to loads applied to an inner side of the hand (1) wherein the construction (7) is deflected from the unloaded position wherein the fingers (4) are stretched into a series of loaded positions in which the fingers (4) are flexed into increasingly bonded positions so as to eventually close the hand (1), and that said construction (7) is provided with a locking mechanism (9) to lock the construction (7) in one of the plurality of loaded positions.
