PROSTHESIS AND ORTHOSIS

A prosthesis comprises a housing (100); a piston (221) and piston rod (222) housed within a cylinder of the housing (100); and a pump (244) mounted on and partially within the housing (100). The housing (100) is a unitary piece and comprises a plurality of passages (151, 152, 153, 154) connecting the cylinder to the part of the housing (100) where the pump (244) is mounted.

ARTIFICIAL FOOT HAVING ROTATABLE TOE PART

The present invention relates to an artificial foot including a foot body part, a toe part rotatably disposed at a first end of the foot body part, a toe joint connecting the foot body part and the toe part to each other, and an adapter disposed on a top of a second end of the foot body part. According to the artificial foot, since the toes of the artificial foot rotate when a wearer walks, when the artificial toes come in contact with the ground, energy is stored due to the load by the weight and the toes kick off the ground as much as the elastic energy accumulated by the spring, so the toe members of the artificial foot do not drag on the ground. Accordingly, the wearer does not need to lift up the hip joints, so the wearer can walk similar to normal walking.

DEVICE FOR FIXING TWO ORTHOPEDIC COMPONENTS TO ONE ANOTHER

A device for fixing two orthopedic components to one another includes a receiving element arranged on a first orthopedic component, which receiving element has a receptacle and includes a connecting element arranged on a second orthopedic component. The connecting element has a connector. The connector can be inserted into the receptacle and is coupled with the receiving element in a tensile force, compressive force, and torque-transmitting manner. At least one flow- and/or data-transmitting contact is arranged on the connecting element and the receiving element so as to correspond to one another, which form an electrical and/or data-transmitting connection with one another in a fixed state of the orthopedic components.

ADJUSTABLE SOCKET SYSTEM

An adjustable socket system includes first and second shell components and first and second longitudinal supports connected to a base. The socket system is movable between an open configuration to loosen the fit of the socket system, and a closed configuration to secure the fit of the socket system on residual limb received therein. A tightening system includes a tensioning unit having a handle defining a moment arm rotatable about a rotation axis, and a tensioning element operatively coupled to the handle via a movable connection point located and protected between the first shell component and the first support and to the shell components via a control point. Rotation of the handle displaces the movable connection point and the tensioning element relative to the control point to move the socket system to the closed configuration.

An apparatus includes a detachable foot and a connector for detachably connecting a prosthetic limb socket to the detachable foot. The connector includes a proximal connector detachably connected to the prosthetic limb socket. The proximal connector has a proximal portion of a locking mechanism. There is also a distal connector detachably connected to the detachable foot. The distal connector includes a distal portion of the locking mechanism. The proximal portion of the locking mechanism and the distal portion of the locking mechanism are detachably connecting the proximal connector to the distal connector.

PROSTHESIS

A joint for a prosthesis comprises a prosthesis part and a body part. The two parts are connected by a connection part. A first pair of engaging sets of abutments is provided on the connection part and the prosthesis part and a second pair of engaging sets of abutments is provided on the connection art and the body part. By adjusting position of the connection part, the first pair of sets are disengageable and by further adjusting the position, the second pair of sets are also disengageable. This allows for adjustment of the joint at two levels. A prosthesis includes two stripes of resilient material of which at least one has a curved part and a straight part. The joint is provided at a distal end, at the concave part of the strips. At straight parts, the strips cross and one strip extends beyond the other.

PUMP MECHANISM

A prosthetic system includes a prosthetic foot with a foot member defining a first end portion, a second end portion, and an intermediate portion defining a curvature and extending between the first and second end portions. A pump mechanism is coupled to the foot member. The pump mechanism includes a housing defining a cavity, and a membrane situated in the cavity. The pump mechanism is movable between an original configuration and an expanded configuration. A movable member includes a first portion coupled to the membrane and a second portion arranged to slidably engage the foot member. Relative movement between the first and second end portions moves the first portion of the movable member relative to the housing and slides the second portion along a length of the foot member to shift the pump mechanism between the original and expanded configurations.

Prosthetic foot

A prosthetic foot is provided with a forefoot spring, a heel spring and a base spring. The base spring is connected to the heel spring and to the forefoot spring. The base spring has receiving means for the forefoot spring and the heel spring, into which receiving means the heel spring and the forefoot spring can be inserted. The heel spring is connected to the forefoot spring via a coupling element, and the coupling element extends forwards along the forefoot spring at least via one portion thereof.

Polycentric powered ankle prosthesis

Systems and methods are disclosed for a powered ankle prosthesis. The prosthesis may comprise a polycentric mechanism having a defined path for an instantaneous center of rotation. The path of the instantaneous center of rotation may be defined by a trajectory substantially equal to an arc positioned over a joint of the polycentric mechanism.

Prosthetic feet that provide for variable and adjustable stiffness are provided. A foot element can include a tongue portion defined or formed by a slot in the foot element that at least partially separates the tongue portion from a remainder of the foot element. The tongue portion can be operably connected to the remainder of the foot member to increase the stiffness of the foot member or operably disconnected from the remainder of the foot member to increase the flexibility of the foot member. The prosthetic foot further includes a mechanism for adjusting whether the tongue portion is operably connected or disconnected from the remainder of the foot member. The mechanism can be selectively actuated to adjust the stiffness of the foot element in dorsiflexion and/or plantarflexion and/or to adjust the degree to which the tongue portion is allowed to flex relative to the remainder of the foot member.
