System and method for reporting signal quality information

A wireless user equipment (UE) may employ any of various mechanisms for reporting signal quality measurements to a wireless network. The UE may impose a time delay between measurement and reporting, based on a delay parameter K. The UE may average measurements obtained at different measurement instances. The UE may employ any of various schemes for prioritizing transmission of one type of report over another, when temporal collisions occur between different types of report. The UE may employ a differential report that includes a state for indicating that a beam is not workable. The UE may employ a beam index that includes a state for indicating an invalid beam. A base station may receive a signal quality report and determine workability of a beam, e.g., by triggering a report of channel state information.

A system described herein may determine transformations, differences, variations, etc. in radio frequency (“RF”) waveforms sent by a device in order to detect motion-based events. Models associated with the differences in such RF waveforms may be used to identify particular types of events, such as the presence of an individual in a room or other area, a type of motion, or other types of events. An interval or rate at which the device outputs RF waveforms may be modified, in order to increase the resolution of the determination of differences between the RF waveforms as sent and the RF waveforms as received, and/or to conserve power.

In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes generating, by a user equipment (UE), a delta precoding value for a precoding matrix update, the delta precoding value relative to a previous precoding matrix. The method also includes generating, by the UE, a delta power loading value for the precoding matrix update, the delta power loading value relative to the previous precoding matrix. The method further includes transmitting, by the UE, a transmission indicating the delta precoding value and the delta power loading value. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Differential reporting for beam groups or antenna panel groups
