ORTHOTIC OR PROSTHETIC JOINT DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SAME

The invention relates to an orthotic or prosthetic joint device with an upper part and a lower part arranged in a hinged manner on the latter, and fastening means for securing the joint device on a user, with at least one hydraulics unit between the upper part and the lower part, which hydraulics unit has a piston that is movable in a housing with an extension chamber and a flexion chamber and that is coupled to the upper part or the lower part, and which hydraulics unit is assigned a pressure supply device with a pump and a pressure accumulator via which the piston, controlled by a control device, is subjected to a pressure, wherein the pump can be operated in generator mode, the pressure accumulator can be coupled drivingly to the pump, and the hydraulic fluid can be conveyed by the pressure accumulator through the pump to the hydraulics unit.

Prosthetic system for removing fluid or sweat from inside of a liner with first and second independently sealed volumes
09925072 · 2018-03-27 · ·

A prosthetic system includes a liner adapted to receive a residual limb and having a liner body formed from an elastomeric material. The liner body defines an outer surface and an inner surface opposite the outer surface. The inner surface includes a first part arranged to form a seal between the liner and the residual limb, and a second part of the inner surface has at least one flow channel arranged for promoting movement of fluid away from a skin surface of the residual limb. An outlet is defined in the second part and extends between the inner and outer surfaces. The at least one flow channel is defined in the elastomeric material forming the liner body and is in fluid communication with the outlet.

A prosthetic device includes a socket assembly defining a cavity and configured to receive a portion of a residual limb of a user within the cavity, a force sensing member configured to detect forces applied to the residual limb at a plurality of locations about the portion of the residual limb and generate signals based on the detected force, a vacuum system in fluid communication with the socket and configured to control an amount of vacuum applied to the cavity, and a controller coupled to the force sensing member and the vacuum system. The controller is configured to receive the signals from the force sensing member and control operation of the vacuum system during use of the prosthetic device by the user based at least in part on the signals received from the force sensing member.

Inflatable limb prosthesis

A limb prosthesis including a socket having an inner cavity configured for disposal therein of a limb stump of a user, and a mechanism for changing an inner diameter of the inner cavity by a remote control, where the inner diameter includes a lining disposed within the cavity, having between fifteen and sixty of only longitudinal inflatable cells where each of the cells is situated immediately adjacent to two other of the cells such that no intervening element aside from a shared border is provided between two such immediately adjacent cells, thereby diminishing blood flow blockage in the limb stump, and a pump assembly, for inflating and deflating the inflatable lining to a desired air pressure set by a user or by a controller, the remote control being in data communication with the pump assembly, for instructing the pump assembly to inflate or deflate the lining to the desired air pressure.
