Wireless devices may receive channel state information (CSI) measurement resources for a plurality of cells, including cells of a first transmission point and cells of a second transmission point. The wireless device may measure CSI for each cell, and may quantize the measured CSI jointly across the cells. The wireless device may send the jointly quantized CSI to a base station, and the jointly quantized CSI may be used in communications via the first transmission point and the second transmission point.

In some cases, a UE may transmit sounding reference signals (SRS) to a network entity, receive information indicating at least one of a set of one or more frequency domain (FD) bases and linear combination coefficients, determined based on the SRS transmission, determine subband precoding based at least in part on linear combinations of the FD bases based on the linear combination coefficients, and transmit a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) with the subband precoding.

A system and method for performing robust beam reporting is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method performed by a first communication node includes: receiving at least one reference signal; determining at least one reference signal received power (RSRP) value associated with the at least one reference signal; generating a RSRP report in accordance with a predetermined format that groups the at least one RSRP value into N sets of RSRP values, each set containing at least one RSRP value, and associates each of the N sets of RSRP values with a respective one of N sets of resource groups, wherein each set of resource groups contains at least one resource group, and N is a positive integer; and transmitting the RSRP report.

One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver configured to communicate with a base unit over a radio access network using at least one transmission layer and determining a total number of non-zero coefficients over a set of layers. The processor encodes the total number of non-zero coefficients by selecting a codeword from a plurality of candidate codewords in which the selected single codeword identifies the total number of non-zero coefficients to the base unit. The processor prepares CSI, where the CSI comprises the selected single codeword encoding the total number of non-zero coefficients and the transceiver transmits the CSI to the base unit.

Disclosed is a method for supporting uplink multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) in a wireless communication system. A method for transmitting data according to the present invention comprises the steps of: mapping, to first orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols within a subframe, first demodulation reference signals (DMRSs) corresponding to a first antenna port and a second DMRSs corresponding to a second antenna port; mapping, to second OFDM symbols except the first OFDM symbols within the subframe, first data corresponding to the first antenna port and second data corresponding to the second antenna port; and transmitting the subframe by using resources allocated to the uplink, wherein predetermined precodings are applied to the first data and the second data, and the predetermined precodings may be changed according to the index of the second OFDM symbols.
