A system for additive manufacturing a medical device, the system comprising a first dispensing system, a second dispensing system, a deposition apparatus, and a deposition substrate on a surface of which the deposition apparatus is configured to deposit at least one elastomeric material into a filament. The deposition apparatus receives the at least one elastomeric material from the first and second dispensing systems in proportions effecting a desired property in the medical device. The deposition apparatus may comprise heating and/or cooling elements, a sonic vibration module, and/or a pneumatic suck-back valve. The deposition substrate may have a configuration corresponding to a desired shape of the medical device and is configured to rotate and/or translate relative to the deposition apparatus. The system comprises a controller configured to control the deposition.

A prosthesis may include a fitted stump cover. The prosthesis may also include a socket fitted over the stump cover. The prosthesis may further include a ball attached to the socket. In addition, the prosthesis may include a shuttle locking mechanism attached in part to the ball. Further, the prosthesis may include a tool attached to the prosthesis by the shuttle locking mechanism.

Prosthetic liner with external fabric seal
11224526 · 2022-01-18 ·

A prosthetic liner for use with a prosthetic socket that has a thermoplastic elastomeric (TPE) layer that is in contact with the amputee's residual limb. The TPE layer is not uniform in thickness but has ridges to extend circumferentially around the TPE layer. A fabric exterior layer covers the outer surface of the TPE layer conforming to the ridges and is used as a substrate to form a mechanical bond to an elastomeric material. Impregnating the elastomeric material within the fabric exterior occurs by applying an uncured material to the fabric exterior layer and onto at least the apex surfaces located within the sealing regions thereby creating an air tight boundary layer when inserted into a socket. When a vacuum is applied the air is evacuated from the volume below the seal layer.

ENVELOPING BODY AND METHOD FOR DETECTING A CONTOUR OF AN AMPUTATION STUMP

The invention relates to an enveloping body for at least partially recording a contour of a limb, wherein the enveloping body has a base body, and at least one sensor that is configured to record measurement data which can be used to determine a distance and/or relative position between two points in or on the base body.

FOAM INSERT FOR USE WITH A WALKING CANISTER SYSTEM FOR AMPUTEE SOCKET MANUFACTURE AND ASSOCIATED METHODS

The foam insert is for use in manufacturing a prosthetic socket. The foam insert includes an elongated foam body extending from an open end to a closed end, and configured to be positioned within a rigid canister. The elongated foam body includes a contoured exterior surface configured to transfer pressure through to an interior surface thereof to produce consistent surface contact with a residual limb having casting material thereon. The interior surface of the elongated foam body includes a smooth interior surface configured to interface with the residual limb.

KNITTED INTERFACE

A knitted interface comprises a knitted structure formed from a plurality of elastomeric polymer filaments having a plurality of interstices permitting a transfer of air therethrough. The elastomeric polymer filaments may have a solid or hollow cross-section. The interstices vary in shape and size according to a knit density of the knitted structure upon movement or radial distension of the knitted interface. The elastomeric polymer filaments may be made from silicone.

Liner for orthopedic or prosthetic device
11752016 · 2023-09-12 · ·

A liner for an orthopedic or prosthetic device includes a core formed from a porous and compressible material, a first layer secured to the first side of the core and forming a first surface to the liner, and a second layer secured to the second side of the core and forming a second surface to the liner. The first and second layers may comprise different properties from one another and be formed from different materials including fabrics and polymeric materials. A polymeric film may be secured to the core or one of the layers to define at least part of a surface of the liner.

SOCKS AND LINERS WITH SHOCK ABSORBING PROPERTIES
20230277340 · 2023-09-07 · ·

A shock absorbing liner or sock that has an opening, a closed liner distal end, and sidewalls. The distal end further comprises a distal region that is knitted with spacer fabric to the same circumference as the liner or sock or is configured to conform to specific areas of a foot; preferably, (1) the toe region leaving out the big toe region, (2) the metatarsal head (MTH) 1 region leaving out the MTHs 2-3 region and the MTHs 4-5 region, (3) the medial mid-foot region, (4) the lateral mid-foot region, and (5) the lateral heel region leaving out the medial heel region. The spacer fabric is preferred as a 2×2 knit outer wall with a 1×3 inner wall made using a number of knitting steps described herein but may be a multitude of configurations allowing for a continuous seamless shape in three dimensions.

Prosthetic Suspension Interfaces
20230372129 · 2023-11-23 ·

A suspension interface having a fabric layer with an open proximal end and a closed distal end. The fabric layer can be knit or woven and is preferably made from a stretchable, breathable material such as nylon. At a pre-determined point along the length of the fabric layer, an external sealing element is affixed using conventional gluing means creating a bond layer. The suspension interface has an internal grip layer or external grip layer that is preferably silicone but may also be a thermoplastic material such as urethane. The internal or external grip layer can be as thick as one inch in thickness and as thin as 1/64 of an inch but is preferably about ⅛ of an inch.

LINER HAVING DIFFERENT REGIONS OF ELONGATION

A prosthetic liner includes a textile cover having at least first and second regions having different elongation from one another. The first region is in a prestretched configuration in at least one orientation relative to an axis of the prosthetic liner and locked in the prestretched configuration according to a layer of elastomeric material located along a surface of the textile cover.
