Prosthetic Liner With External Fabric Seal
20220096251 · 2022-03-31 ·

A prosthetic liner for use with a prosthetic socket that has a thermoplastic elastomeric (TPE) layer that is in contact with the amputee's residual limb. The TPE layer is not uniform in thickness but has ridges to extend circumferentially around the TPE layer. A fabric exterior layer covers the outer surface of the TPE layer conforming to the ridges and is used as a substrate to form a mechanical bond to an elastomeric material. Impregnating the elastomeric material within the fabric exterior occurs by applying an uncured material to the fabric exterior layer and onto at least the apex surfaces located within the sealing regions thereby creating an air tight boundary layer when inserted into a socket. When a vacuum is applied the air is evacuated from the volume below the seal layer.

Prosthetic interface

A prosthetic interface includes a body portion having an open proximal end and a closed distal end including a distal cup. The body portion includes a membrane component having a flexible configuration defining an internal flow space extending along a length of the membrane component between an inner side arranged to face a skin surface of a residual limb and an outer side arranged to face away from the skin surface. At least one material coating is selectively applied to the membrane component that interacts with at least one of the membrane component and the distal cup to define at least one breathable region along the inner side that allows fluid flow between the internal flow space and the residual limb, and at least one impermeable region along the outer side that allows for vacuum suspension between the prosthetic interface and a prosthetic socket.

Apparatus for Volume Management of Residual Limb
20220110544 · 2022-04-14 ·

An apparatus for residual limb volume management. Specifically the present invention relates to tapered prosthetic socks used in combination with a measuring template such that, when compressed, a user can see whether or not their residual limb has swelled or shrunk. The point at which the top edge of the socket of the prosthetic stops when in a compressed stance is the “0” mark on the measuring template and any upward or downward movement will be noticed by the user via a baseline drawn onto the prosthetic sock made using the measuring template. A mobile/online application can be implemented to remind the user to regularly check the baseline and instruct the user if corrective action is needed.

LINER FOR AN AMPUTATION STUMP

A liner for application to an amputation stump as a cushion, having a proximal entry opening (2) of a wall (6) having a sleeve section (3) provided for circumferentially enclosing the amputation stump, and a distal closed end section (4), wherein an inside (7) of the wall (6) of the liner (1) is designed for contact on the amputation stump, permits simplified handling of the wound care on the amputation stump of a prosthesis wearer in that an electrode arrangement (10), having at least one electrode (12), for a dielectric barrier plasma discharge is integrated into the liner (1), which arrangement extends starting from the distal end section (4) into the sleeve section (3), is connected at the distal end section (4) to at least one terminal (11) for a high-voltage control signal and is provided with a dielectric cover for contact on the amputation stump, and in that the dielectric cover is provided, at least in the region of the electrode arrangement (10) on the inside (7), with protrusions (8), which define at least one gas space (9, 9′) upon contact on the amputation stump, in which the dielectric barrier plasma discharge can form.

PROSTHETIC LINER WITH SELECTIVE PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT

A prosthetic liner for insertion within a socket of a prosthetic limb is provided. The prosthetic liner comprises a body having inflatable bladders and pressure sensors disposed thereon, an electronic circuit, one or more actuators, and a processor. The body receives a residual limb on an interior surface and contacts the socket on an exterior surface. The processor receives a digital pressure signal indicative of a detected pressure from each pressure sensor via the electronic circuit and selectively activates the actuators to adjust a pressure in one or more of the inflatable bladders based on the digital pressure signals and the region of the body corresponding to each digital pressure signal.
