Skeletal Stabilization Liner System
20210045898 · 2021-02-18 ·

A liner system for reducing motion of a skeletal structure within a limb is described. The liner system includes a liner adapted to be worn over the limb and one or more shims adapted to be pre-placed along a length of the skeletal structure of the limb prior to donning the liner on the limb. The one or more shims each have a durometer, a radial thickness, a width, and a longitudinal dimension configured to compress a target area of soft tissue against the skeletal structure such that motion of the skeletal structure towards a wall of the shim is reduced.

PROSTHETIC SOCKET SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Systems and methods are described herein for a prosthetic device that includes a rigid outer shell socket with an inner surface contour. A prosthetic insert socket is manufactured via a manufacturing process, such as three-dimensional printing, to have an outer contour that corresponds to the inner surface contour of the premade outer shell socket. The prosthetic insert socket is manufactured to have an inner contour that corresponds to a residual limb surface contour of a patient.

Disarticulated Compression Socket

The invention provides for an improved disarticulated compression socket configured to secure a residual limb. The disarticulated compression socket may include a rigid socket frame, and preferably a 3-D printed socket having one or more surface channels that may secure a compression cord optionally positioned within a cord cylinder. Such compression cord may be responsive to a compression actuator and one or more disarticulated compression inserts such that activation of the compression actuator causes the retraction of the compression cord initiating the coordinated inward compression of each of said disarticulated compression inserts securing the residual limb within said socket frame.

Methods of Fabricating Skeletal Stabilization Liner System
20200405509 · 2020-12-31 ·

Methods of fabricating a liner for reducing motion between a socket and a skeletal structure in a body part are described. Methods include selecting a plurality of compression areas, lying the compression areas along the longitudinal axis of the liner, and spacing the compression areas circumferentially around the liner. The durometer, radial thickness, width, and longitudinal dimension of the compression areas are selected to compress soft tissue of the body part against the skeletal structure to reduce motion of the skeletal structure towards a wall of the socket. Methods also include selecting a plurality of attachment areas on the liner and affixing a plurality of attachment area materials to the plurality of attachment areas. The durometer, radial thickness, width, and longitudinal dimension of the attachment area materials are selected to compress soft tissue of the body part and reduce motion of the skeletal structure towards a wall of the socket.

AIR HAMMOCK FOR A PROSTHETIC

The invention is an air hammock for a prosthetic with dynamic conformity to better match to the underlying limb shape in real-time through a combination of structural support members with modularly adjustable compliant members thereby creating an air hammock for a prosthetic by suspending the limb within the socket without pressure on the bottom of the residual limb.

System and a method for adjusting a prosthetic limb

A hydraulic system for adjusting a prosthetic limb. The hydraulic system may include an expandable pad mounted onto an interior surface of a socket of the prosthetic limb. The hydraulic system may further include a hydraulic cylinder and a plunger mechanism. The hydraulic cylinder may be filled with a hydraulic oil. The hydraulic system may be configured to expand the expandable pad by pumping the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic cylinder into the expandable pad responsive to a volume decrease of the residual limb being more than a threshold.

PROSTHETIC SOCKET CASTING CYLINDER AND METHOD

A prosthetic socket casting cylinder and method for forming a prosthetic limb socket about a distal end portion of residual limb, while the residual limb is weight bearing, the prosthetic socket casting cylinder providing a height adjustable cylinder carrying an internal height adjustable distal interface socket, a pneumatic supply for pressurizing an internal chamber of the cylinder, plural weight sensors for sensing and determining downward pressure and weight exerted upon the cylinder, and a controller for vertically adjustably positioning the cylinder and distal interface, and to determine ratios of downward pressure/weight exerted upon the distal interface and cylinder.

DYNAMIC SUPPORT APPARATUS AND SYSTEM

A dynamic support system includes a control system for controlling inflation and deflation of at least one actuator having an inlet connectable to the a control unit of the dynamic support system. The control unit may be in communication with a sensor and may control inflation and deflation of the at least one actuator in response to information provided by the sensor.

A liner with at least three substantially equally spaced attachment areas arranged longitudinally from the proximal to the distal end of the liner so as to permit relief areas between attachment areas and increase the radial thickness of the liner in the area of the liner inherently or through the addition of shims or other materials at the attachment areas. The liner and shims can be selected from a kit of different shaped liners and shims. Methods for making such a liner or liners for a kit. A method for iteratively attaching shims to the liner to prevent substantial movement of a limb's skeletal structure when the liner is worn with a socket.
