APPARATUS FOR TREATING GERD
20210000627 · 2021-01-07 ·

The present invention relates to a reflux disease treatment apparatus, comprising two or more movement restriction device segments adapted to form an implantable movement restriction device with an elongated shape that maintains cardia in the correct position. The movement restriction device has proximal and a distal end, wherein the distal end is adapted to stabilize and hold the proximal end. The invention further comprises a control device for controlling the stimulation device to stimulate the cardia sphincter. The distal end can be further adapted to treat obesity, for example by stretching the wall of the stomach or filling out a volume of the stomach.

An intraluminar method of treating obesity of a patient, having a stomach with a food cavity, is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of creating a pouch made of a stomach wall portion of the patient, closing the pouch by sutures, staples or a fixation device, and placing a volume filling device in the pouch before or after closing the pouch, and thus investigating the volume filling device in the pouch such that an outer surface of the volume filling device rests against an outer surface of the stomach wall.

APPARATUS FOR TREATING OBESITY

An apparatus for treating obesity in a human or animal mammal patient. The apparatus comprising a first volume filling device segment and a second volume filling device segment. The first and second volume filling device segments are adapted to be assembled into an implantable volume filling device of a controlled size. Each one of the first and second volume filling device segment comprises at least one interconnecting structure. The interconnecting structure of the second volume filling device segment is adapted to be formed fitted, such that the first and second volume filling device segment can be assembled into the volume filling device. The assembled volume filling device is adapted to be at least substantially invaginated by a stomach wall portion of a patient, with the outer surface of the device resting against the stomach wall, such that the volume of the food cavity is reduced in size.

An volume filling device for treatment of obesity is placed outside the stomach wall of the patient to reduce the inner volume of the stomach, thereby affecting the patient's appetite. By providing the volume filling device outside the stomach wall, contact with stomach acids is avoided, thereby increasing the life of the device.

DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TREATING OBESITY

An obesity treatment device is provided, the device comprising: at least one operable stretching device implantable in an obese patient and adapted to stretch a portion of the patient's stomach wall and an operation device for operating the stretching device when implanted to stretch the stomach wall portion such that satiety is created.

Sleeve-anchorable gastric balloon for weight loss

Provided are devices and related methods for weight loss. A size-varying gastric balloon having a passage connected to an elongated sleeve forms a continuous pathway extension so that swallowed food is not absorbed by the body, thereby promoting weight loss. The connection of the sleeve to the gastric balloon avoids the need to directly anchor the proximal sleeve, with the balloon providing that anchoring function. Also provided are gastric balloons having a shape-controllable funnel to provide desired weight loss parameters tailored to the need of an individual and specially configured double lumen sleeves to facilitate controlled nutrition supply to a patient. Methods of deploying any of the devices described herein for weight-loss are also provided.

METHODS AND INSTRUMENTS FOR TREATING GERD AND HIATAL HERNIA

The invention relates to an intraluminar method of treating a reflux disease in a patient by implanting a device comprising an movement restriction device that, when implanted in a patient, fills a volume in the patient's abdomen that is close to and at least partially above the patient's cardia when the patient is in a standing position. The invention further relates to a method of restoring the location of the cardia in a patient suffering from a reflux disease and to an instrument suitable to use with intraluminar method and/or restoration method. Also disclosed are instruments treating a patient suffering hiatal hernia and providing a movement restriction device to be invaginated in the stomach fundus wall.

DELIVERY SYSTEMS FOR DEVICES WITH UNSUPPORTED STRUCTURE

The present disclosure relates generally to the field of medical devices and medical device delivery. In particular, the present disclosure relates to medical devices and delivery systems for positioning and delivering medical devices with an unsupported structure, for example, within a distant and/or tortuous portion of body lumen. For example, a delivery system may position a supported structure of a medical device within a proximal portion of a body lumen and an unsupported structure of the medical device within a distal portion of the body lumen. Examples include delivery systems within an unsupported structure of a medical device to be delivered, wherein a number of balloons are arranged un-inflated within the unsupported, with a distal balloon removably attached to a distal portion of the unsupported structure, and the balloons are inflatable in series to deploy the unsupported structure linearly from the distal end of the delivery system.

MEDICAL ARRANGEMENT FOR SHUTTING OFF A BODY CHANNEL

A medical device for shutting off a body channel is provided including a band section that can be placed around the body tissue surrounding a body channel and can be closed to form a ring enclosing a passage opening for the body tissue, and has a cavity which makes up one part of a working fluid receiving chamber of the device, for receiving working fluid, and a pump unit for conveying the working fluid. The passage opening is made smaller by introducing the working fluid into the cavity. The arrangement also includes a storage container that has a flexible wall which delimits a storage chamber, wherein to apply an additional force to the body tissue guided through the passage opening, the volume of the storage chamber is made smaller by increasing an ambient pressure acting on the storage container, and the wall of the storage container is at least substantially non-extensible.
