TREMOR STABILISATION APPARATUS AND METHODS
The present invention relates to improvements in or relating to tremor stabilisation apparatus and methods, in particular to gyroscopic devices for use in controlling tremors of parts of the body and for reducing effects of tremors on the human body. The apparatus includes a wearable element and at least one gyroscopic device mounted or mountable to the wearable element, the gyroscopic device including a gyroscope and a gyroscope housing. The at least one gyroscopic device may be mounted within the housing such that the gyroscope may precess with respect to the housing. The mount may include a hinge to which the gyroscope is mounted and a hinge plate or hinge mount to which the hinge is mounted for rotation with respect to the gyroscope housing, such as a turntable mounted to the gyroscope housing. The gyroscopic devices may include a control arrangement to control the precession of the gyroscope.
ELECTRONIC TEXTILE BASED RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS THERAPY GLOVE
The electronic textile based rheumatoid arthritis therapy glove is for treating deformities in finger joints and wrist area caused by rheumatoid arthritis and treating chronic pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis disease.
Potentiating support with expandable framework
A method of donning a potentiating support for a hinge joint of a body includes positioning a garment proximate an area of a body; positioning an expandable and recoverable framework in abutment with the area of the body such that the framework spans a hinge joint of the body, the framework defining a plurality of permanent openings extending therethrough regardless of whether the support is donned; applying tension at points of the framework such that the framework is expanded and the framework is tensioned in its abutment with the area of the body, said step of applying tension being performed by pulling on one or more fastening components that are attached at one or more points to said framework; and affixing each of the fastening components to the garment while applying tension to the framework to secure the expanded framework in its forced abutment with the area of the body.
ORTHOSIS DEVICE HAVING METAL WIRE ADJUSTING STRUCTURE
An orthosis device having a metal wire adjusting structure includes a palm orthosis body and a forearm orthosis body. The palm orthosis body includes a plurality of fixing portions. A plurality of adjustment seats are connected to the fixing portions, respectively. The adjustment seats each have a first through hole for insertion of a first end of an elastic metal wire. A first adjusting bolt is screwed to the outer side of each of the adjustment seats, so as to tighten and secure the first end of the elastic metal wire. A second end of the elastic metal wire is inserted into a second through hole of a movable seat. A second adjusting bolt is screwed to the outer side of the movable seat, so as to tighten and secure the second end of the elastic metal wire. A finger sleeve is connected to the movable seat.
ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE
An orthopedic device, first and second struts, and a range-of-motion limiting pivot assembly connecting to the first and second struts. The pivoting assembly having an engagement member linked to a tab disposed and arranged for pulling radially outward away from a central axis of the pivoting assembly for adjusting the range of motion of the pivoting assembly.
Carpal tunnel wrist brace
A brace for treating or preventing carpal tunnel injury includes a body having a proximal end and a distal end. The body includes a forearm support at the proximal end and a wrist support coupled to the forearm support by a neck portion. The wrist support includes a first palmar strap support. A first member and a second member extend from the wrist support towards the distal end. The body also includes a distal palmar support, a proximal palmar aperture, a palm band having a second palmar strap support, and a palmar strap. The palmar strap extends across a portion of the back of the hand and over a purlicue of the hand.
Reel based lacing system
A lacing system configured to selectively adjust the size of an opening on an object and allow for the incremental release of the lace within the lacing system. The lacing system can have a reel comprising a housing, a spool supported by the housing, and a knob supported by the housing. The reel can be configured so that cable is gathered in the channel formed in the spool when the spool is rotated in a first direction relative to the housing, and so that cable can be incrementally released from the spool when the spool is rotated in a second direction relative to the housing. In some embodiments, the reel can include a rotation limiter which can be configured to prevent over-tightening of the lacing system and/or to prevent rotation past the substantially fully loosened state.
Appendage brace assembly
An appendage brace assembly includes an openwork including an open proximal extremity, a distal extremity, and a volume therebetween. The openwork is stiff and jointless, and defines access points to the volume from proximate to the open proximal extremity to proximate to the distal extremity for enabling access to the appendage applied to the volume through the open proximal extremity. A restraint is carried by the openwork for restraining the appendage from being withdrawn from the volume through the open proximal extremity, when the restraint is releasably secured to the appendage applied to the volume through the open proximal extremity, and for enabling the appendage for being withdrawn from the volume through the open proximal extremity without interference from the openwork, when the restraint is released from the appendage applied to the volume through the open proximal extremity.
Joint Rehabilitating Garment Assembly
A joint rehabilitating garment assembly includes a shirt that is wearable on a user's torso such that the shirt covers each of the user's shoulders. The shirt has a plurality of channels integrated into the shirt and each of the channels is strategically positioned on the shirt such that each of the channels extends along pre-determined pressure points associated with supporting a rotator cuff injury in the user. A plurality of elastomeric bands is each of the elastomeric bands is routed through respective ones of the channels in the shirt thereby facilitating each of the elastomeric bands to extend along the pre-determined pressure points associated with rotator cuff injuries. Each of the elastomeric bands imparts tension into the pre-determined pressure points to support the user's rotator cuffs while the user's rotator cuffs are healing from injury.
Prosthesis and orthosis slip detection sensor and method of use
A device and method for measuring prosthetic or orthotic slip is presented. An optical sensor device is attached to the prosthesis or orthosis and measures the amount of relative motion between the prosthetic socket and the residual limb surface or between the orthosis and the affected body part. The sensor device is comprised of an optical sensor, a light source, a processing unit and a power source contained within a housing. A system for measuring multidirectional prosthetic or orthotic slip using the sensor device and automatically adjusting the fit of the prosthetic based on a determined threshold is also presented.
