Elbow brace

An elbow brace for use by athletes or others requiring protection and support of the elbow. The elbow brace includes a base and a tension member. The base is comprised of elastic material and configured to closely fit around the elbow. A tension member having upper and lower pairs of tensioning straps is fastened to the interior surface of the base, with the tensioning straps extending through upper and lower apertures in the base for detachable attachment to the exterior surface of the base. The tension member may include an anchor portion made of material that stretches in multiple directions, and strap portions that stretch primarily lengthwise.

WEARABLE DEVICE TO TREAT TREMOR
20220054349 · 2022-02-24 ·

Devices, systems, and methods are provided to treat tremor in an outer extremity, typically a hand, of a subject. A wearable base or glove is provided with one or more tremor damping mechanisms, which can be of different or the same types, in the case of a plurality of tremor damping mechanisms. One or more frictional damping mechanisms can be provided and/or one or more tuned mass damping mechanisms can be provided. The frictional dampening mechanism can simply be the viscoelastic material of the wearable base that deforms and interferes with tremor movement. The frictional dampening mechanism can be one or more tension elements provided within the body of the wearable base. The tuned damping mechanism may comprise one or more resonators held within a housing coupled to the wearable base. The tremor damping mechanisms can be self-adjusting and/or adjustable by the wearer.

CLOSURE DEVICES INCLUDING INCREMENTAL RELEASE MECHANISMS AND METHODS THEREFOR

According to an embodiment, a device for tightening an article includes a housing, a spool rotatably positioned within the housing, a knob operably coupled with the spool to cause the spool to rotate within the housing, and a stop mechanism. The device is configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a first direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool within the housing that incrementally tensions a tension member and thereby tightens the article. The device is also configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a second direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool that incrementally loosens the tension member's tension. The stop mechanism is configured to prevent rotation of the spool in the second direction when the tension member's tension achieves or falls below a tension threshold.

Grip Support Orthosis
20220054292 · 2022-02-24 ·

A grip support orthosis includes a brace configured to be worn by a user such that a wrist of the user is positioned in the brace at a wrist end portion of the brace and a forearm of the user is positioned in the brace at a forearm end portion of the brace. A plurality of mounting straps is configured for selectively securing the brace on the user. A first end portion of an elongated strap is fixed to the brace. A second end portion of the elongated strap is selectively mountable to the brace. A length of the elongated strap is no less than ten inches. The elongated strap is wrappable onto an object in order to assist the user with gripping the object.

ORTHOTIC SPLINT
20170333242 · 2017-11-23 ·

A dynamic splint for use with a user's hand, including a hand support section, at least one strut including a base portion disposed adjacent the hand support section and a body portion extending outwardly therefrom to a distal end, the body portion defining at least one recess, and at least one tensioner including a proximal end, a distal end configured to be secured to a digit of the user's hand, an elongated body extending therebetween, and at least one node disposed on the elongated body, wherein the at least one node is selectively received in the at least one recess in a press-fit, and the elongated body of the at least one tensioner has flexural strength to resist bending of the digit.

Traveler's Personal Arm Rest Device
20170332795 · 2017-11-23 ·

A traveler's personal arm rest device comprises a chest portion and a pair of shoulder straps configured to supportively maintain the chest portion against the anterior side of a wearer's torso. In an embodiment, the chest portion may be securely folded to define a tubular cavity sized to accommodate all of the wearer's arms therein so that such arms may be maintained and comfortably supported by way of the straps in a resting position that is in line with his or her own body. The disclosure may provide a wearer with increased comfort while seated in cramped modes of public transportation and further prevent passive aggressive and even assertive arguments with neighbors regarding available arm resting spaces. Elements enabling compact self-stowage when not in use, providing ergonomic support when worn, and permitting storage of personal belongings therein are also provided.

Finger Sleeve

The present disclosure describes an infant brace for treating an infant with a fractured clavicle. The infant brace includes a torso portion for receiving the donning infant's torso, and an arm portion for receiving the donning infant's arm on the side coinciding with the fractured clavicle. The infant brace is formed from an elastic netting material. The infant brace provides effective immobilization of the infant's affected upper arm while minimizing risks of over-heating or causing pressure sores.

Elbow-forearm anti-rotation orthosis
09782285 · 2017-10-10 · ·

An elbow-forearm anti-rotation support system and process that do not require a hardenable material. The system includes an orthopedic support such as a wrist-hand orthosis, wrist-hand-thumb orthosis, or cast, joined to a bottle-shaped forearm wrap with opposed flaps formed into a clamshell. Proximal elbow flaps include a center elbow region that extends from the proximal end of the forearm wrap. A U-shaped reinforcement stay is disposed on the center elbow region and attaches to the forearm flaps. Cross straps extending from the proximal elbow flaps attach to the forearm flaps, and a closure strap secures the two flaps together. Hook and loop fasteners extending from the distal edge of the forearm wrap attach the forearm wrap to the orthopedic support.
