ECCENTRIC AND POLYCENTRIC ARTICULATED TENSIONING JOINT FOR ORTHOPEDIC BRACES
An eccentric and polycentric articulated tensioning joint (10) applied to an orthopedic brace with adjustable angular excursion placed in correspondence of body joints comprises two bars (13, 14) each hinged to a rotation pin (17, 18), wherein said rotation pins are constrained parallel to each other at a predefined distance, said two bars being connected to each other by means of respective semi-circular toothed profiles (25) present on each bar, so as to be set in synchronous motion relative to each other. Said two bars (13, 14) are associated with a respective pair of loop elements (15, 16), which are kinetically connected to said bars in such a way as to impart thereto the same rotational movements and partially transform them into relative translational movements along the longitudinal axes of each of the bars themselves, in order to effect linear movements of reciprocal distancing or nearing relative to the rotation centres thereof located on said pins (17, 18).
SMART BRACE AND HINGE ASSEMBLIES FOR SAME
A smart brace is configured to be worn on a limb over the joint and includes a sensor that gathers data related to motion. The sensor can be included in a hinge assembly of the smart brace. The hinge assembly can include a first gear and a first bar and a second gear and a second bar. The first gear can be meshingly engaged with the second gear such that rotation of one causes corresponding rotation of the other. The first bar and the second bar are configured in size and shape to be flexible in a frontal plane and rigid in a sagittal plane. An end of the first bar and an end of the second bar can be received within corresponding recesses of the first gear and the second gear.
Backdrivable, Electrically Powered Orthotic Device
A compact, powered, orthotic device for pediatric use enables the user to control relative motion of the upper arm and the forearm about the elbow and grasping motions of the thumb and fingers. The device is powered by a set of battery-driven, backdrivable linear actuators that are positioned remotely from an arm of the subject. Control of motion of the device by the subject occurs by means of electromyographic signals from a sensor array in contact with skin on the arm of the subject. The sensors in the sensor array may be held in place on the forearm, on the upper arm, or at any other convenient location on the arm.
STRAP ATTACHMENT AND ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE USING THE SAME
A strap attachment for attaching a strap to a frame member in an orthopedic device including a retainer; a cable connected to the retainer having at least one segment arranged to be adjustably connected to a frame of a device; a connector securable to an end portion of the at least one segment of the cable, the connector arranged to engage the frame.
MEDICAL AMBULATORY AID
A medical ambulatory aid comprising, in combination, a waist belt harness, a thigh brace, a calf brace and a walking boot.
ORTHESIS, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADAPTING AN ORTHESIS
An orthesis, which has an upper part and a lower part, which are coupled to each other with a first joint device in such a way that the upper part and the lower part can pivot about a pivot axis, wherein devices for receiving a body part or a limb or for fastening the orthesis to a body part or a limb are arranged on the upper part and/or the lower part, and wherein an upper support element is fastened to the upper part on one side and a lower support element is fastened to the lower part on one side, which support elements are connected to each other with a second joint device in such a way that said support elements can pivot about the pivot axis. A bearing plate having at least one fastening device for fastening the second joint device is fastened to or formed on the upper part and/or the lower part.
Motion assistance apparatus
A motion assistance apparatus including a proximal frame configured to support a proximal part of a user, a distal frame configured to support a distal part of the user, and a force transmitting member slidably connected to the proximal frame, and rotatably connected to the distal frame is provided.
Compression braces with removable hot/cold packs
A knee brace includes: an elastic sleeve; first and second stiffening members coupled together to crisscross to form an X-shape, and secured to a medial side of the sleeve; third and fourth stiffening members similarly coupled together and secured to a lateral side of the sleeve; and a plurality of slits in the sleeve into a corresponding pockets that receive a thermal pack. The thermal packs and pockets are triangular shaped, with two triangular-shaped pockets on the medial side of the sleeve, and two on the lateral side, each disposed in a respective triangular shape positioned between the x-shape of the stiffening members. The pairs of stiffening members are either: fixedly coupled together to store energy when the user bends at the knee, and to expend the stored energy to assist in lifting the user upward; or pivotally coupled together to pivot according to movements of the wearer's knee joint.
LIMB ORTHOSIS, IN PARTICULAR KNEE BRACE
The present invention relates to a limb orthosis, in particular a knee orthosis, comprising a strap system, wherein a strap as a first section of the strap system is routed in such a manner that the strap crosses over in a first crossover region and that a strap as a second section of the strap system is routed in such a manner that the strap crosses over in a second crossover region.
