Unloading Knee Brace Apparatus
A pivoting hinge assembly for an orthotic device for a knee joint afflicted with osteoarthritis, thus reducing pain and improving mobility, comprising: a proximal subunit, a distal subunit, an energy storage element capable of generating significant forces around the joint, and a tension adjustable geared hinge assembly. Four embodiments are disclosed of hinge assemblies useable with the knee brace, or other types of braces. The hinge assemblies comprise: two subunits housing intermeshed gears, and at least one elastic band extending between the hinge subunits over a cam surface above the gears. In three embodiments, U-shaped connectors secure the subunits and gears together, and the subunits may comprise a user mechanism that adjusts the elastic band's tension and thus the amount of weight unloaded, then releases it. Another embodiment comprises a core bracket to protect the band(s) and a mechanism to compress the elastic band at various points to increase the amount of tension, and with a quick release mechanism.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PHYSIOLOGY MONITORING KNEE BRACE
A knee brace is provided for monitoring the knee. The knee brace includes a dock for removably receiving a control module. The control module is electrically coupled with the dock when the control module is received in the dock. The knee brace includes a sensor for measuring a physiological state of the wearer. The sensor is electrically coupled to the control module by way of the first conductive path when the control module is received in the dock.
DEVICE FOR STABILISING JOINTS
The present invention relates to a device (1) for stabilising joints, comprising a receptacle (20), wherein the receptacle (20) is filled with a filling medium (30), a first body (40) for interaction with the filling medium (30), wherein the first body is arranged displaceably in the receptacle (20), a force-transmission means (50) for the transmission of an external force onto the first body (40), a second body (60) for interaction with the filling medium (30) which is arranged displaceably in the receptacle (20), wherein the second body is coupled elastically to the first body (40) via a coupling element (70), wherein at least one of the second body (60) and the first body (40) have at least one outlet opening (64) through which the filling medium (30) can flow, and wherein the first body (40) forms a valve body and the second body (60) forms a valve seat so that a flow of the filling medium (30) through the outlet opening (64) can be allowed or prevented as a function of the valve position.
Hinge for orthopedic devices
A hinge for an orthopedic device includes an upper hinge component having a bottom peripheral surface defined by a first geometrical configuration, and a lower hinge component having a top peripheral surface defined by a second geometrical configuration. An outer plate pivotally connects at first location points to the upper and lower hinge components, and a rear component pivotally connects at second location points to the upper and lower hinge components. The hinge has a rotation stop defining a third geometrical configuration defining a top portion corresponding in shape to at least a portion of the bottom peripheral surface and is arranged to directly abut the portion of the bottom peripheral surface. The rotation stop also defines a bottom portion corresponding in shape to at least a portion of the top peripheral surface and is arranged to directly abut the portion of the top peripheral surface.
Physical therapy device for aiding in joint mobility and recovery
A physical therapy device includes a brace to secure around an appendage of a person; a first locking device connected to a portion of the brace via a rivet joint, the first locking device having a gear; a pawl positioned to engage with the gear; a spring connected to the pawl to provide tension to the pawl; and a lock to release the pawl from the toothed gear; the first locking device is positioned next to a joint of the appendage when worn; the first locking device allows for single direction movement of the joint; and the first locking device is to release the joint via the lock.
Ankle orthosis
A multi-axis rotation control ankle brace, wherein the direction and magnitude of force can be controlled around three axes of the ankle joint through an adjustable tensioning apparatus. The device may be applied to address conditions such as chronic ankle instability, foot drop, or osteoarthritis by providing such forces around the joint as an external-muscle tendon system to improve function, reduce pain, or restore mobility of the user. While more are contemplated herein, five preferred embodiments are specifically disclosed in the current application. Three preferred embodiments comprise a proximal portion and a distal portion, wherein the proximal portion is anchored above the ankle joint and houses, in aspects, the adjustment mechanism. The proximal portion is connected to the distal portion by tensioning or compressive elements, through which forces can be controlled by the user via the adjustment mechanism. In other preferred embodiments, the device is comprised of one continuous mesh, sock or sleeve through which tension can be controlled by the user. In other preferred embodiments, the device is personalized to the user through multiple aspects including user-enabled adjustment of forces around the joint. The device may be customized by 3D printing a device based on a digital scan, and therefore conforms to the user's ankle and foot.
ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE
An orthopedic device, first and second struts, and a range-of-motion limiting pivot assembly connecting to the first and second struts. The pivoting assembly having an engagement member linked to a tab disposed and arranged for pulling radially outward away from a central axis of the pivoting assembly for adjusting the range of motion of the pivoting assembly.
JOINT FOR AN ANKLE ORTHOSIS
The invention relates to a joint for an orthopedic device, wherein the joint includes a first element with at least one end stop element and a second element which is mounted on the first element such that it can be swivelled and has at least one contact surface that can be brought into contact with the at least one end stop element by swivelling the second element relative to the first element, wherein the at least one end stop element then counters a further swivelling of the second element relative to the first element with a force, wherein at least one contact element is fixed on the second element such that it can be detached, said contact element having at least one contact surface.
JOINT MOVEMENT SUPPORTING PROTECTION DEVICE
A joint movement supporting protection device, comprising a joint protection body (1) matched with a joint in shape, and a fixing device (2) connected or contacted with the joint protection body (1) and tightly attaching the joint protection body (1) to a joint of a human body. A plurality of upper notches (11) extending downwards from top but not penetrating through bottom are formed in a portion, close to a joint movement area, of the joint protection body (1). Thus, the joint protection body (1) is divided into a plurality of joint pieces (12). A junction of the upper notch (11) and a lower edge of the joint protection body (1) serves as a rotation fulcrum (13) between adjacent joint pieces (12). When the joint bends to a limiting position, the two adjacent joint pieces (12) on two sides of the upper notch (11) contact.
