ADAPTIVE ARM SUPPORT SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR USE
A system is provided for supporting an arm of a user that includes a harness configured to be worn by the user, and an arm support coupled to the harness and including an arm rest to support an arm of the user. The arm support is configured to accommodate and follow movement of the arm without substantially interfering in such movement. The arm support may at least partially offset a gravitational force acting on the arm as the user moves and the arm support follows the movement of the user's arm. For example, the arm support may transfer at least a portion of the weight of the user's arm to the torso or other region of the user's body and/or may apply an opposing force to at least partially offset the gravitational force acting on the arm.
Flexible Support Brace for Wrist
A wrist brace. A glove-like structure is formed of a flexible elastic material to conform to a human wrist and hand. The structure includes a first set of holes in the flexible elastic material on the palm side of the structure having a first size. Support sections are provided with additional sets of holes in the flexible elastic material having a second size that is smaller than the first size to provide increased resistance to rotational movements of the human wrist.
Device for Providing a Supporting Force for the Upper Extremities of a User, and an Exoskeleton
A device for providing a supporting force for a user's upper extremity. The device includes a supporting device, an arm strut, a rotary joint that connects the supporting device to the arm strut, a spring element that provides the supporting force where the supporting force is provided in a first mode and a second mode, a connecting element where the spring element is disposed between the supporting device and the connecting element, and a force transmission element that has a first end and a second end and is guidable about the connecting element. The first end is attached to a first suspension point on the supporting device in the first mode and the second end is attached to a second suspension point on the arm strut in the first mode. The first and second ends are attached to the second suspension point in the second mode.
Ankle foot orthosis
An ankle foot orthosis having a lower leg element, a foot element being pivotably coupled to the lower leg element around a pivot axis, and a first energy storing unit being adapted such that moving the foot element relative to the lower leg element in dorsiflexion direction from a position in which the amount of energy stored in the first energy storing unit is minimal loads the first energy storing unit with energy. The first energy storing unit is adapted such that the amount of energy stored in the first energy storing unit is increased by moving the foot element relative to the lower leg element in a plantar flexion direction from a first position in which the amount of energy stored in the first energy storing unit is minimal into a second position and moving the foot element relative to the lower leg element in dorsiflexion direction from the second position back into the first position.
Orthotic clubfoot device and method
A dual-adjustable orthotic device to treat clubfoot and methods for using same. The device comprises a pair of paddles, adapted to attach footwear, attached at opposing ends of an adjustable torque bar the device has independent configuration systems to adjust the angle at which the paddles are oriented to the bar, and to adjust the torque loading applied to the paddles. These systems facilitate the independent adjustment of the device settings without changing the tensioning mechanism, stocking multiple devices, or having to disassemble and reassemble the tensioning structures.
Device for providing active assistance to a body joint
A device for providing active assistance to a body joint including at least one spring module interconnecting first and second attachment parts. The at least one spring module including first and second elongate link members coupled to the first and second attachment parts respectively and pivotably coupled to each other at a pivot joint with a pivoting axis perpendicular to the first and second elongate link members; a coil spring extending longitudinally between the first and second elongate link members and across the pivot joint, whereby first and second ends of the coil spring are coupled to the first and second elongate link members respectively; and a coil-spring-retaining-member slidable relative to the first elongate link member in a manner so as to vary a portion of a length of the coil spring engaged and retained by the coil-spring-retaining-member to vary an effective length of the coil spring.
ORTHOTIC KNEE CONTROL DEVICE FOR PROVIDING EASE OF MOVEMENT
Embodiments herein discloses an orthotic knee control device providing ease of movement. The orthotic knee control device includes a hydraulic piston connected with a hydraulic chamber, accumulator spring(s) connected with an accumulator chamber, a non-return valve connected in between the hydraulic chamber and the accumulator chamber. The non-return valve allows the flow of an oil from the accumulator chamber to the hydraulic chamber and does not allow the flow of the oil from the hydraulic chamber to the accumulator chamber. Further, the orthotic knee control device includes a motorized valve connected between the hydraulic chamber and the accumulator chamber. Further, the accumulator springs apply pressure to the hydraulic piston, to resist flexion of a knee joint and to aid extension of the knee joint.
Orthotic Joint Devices, Joint Device Components, and Methods
Various orthotic joint devices, components, and methods are provided. These include orthotic joint alignment devices for adjusting a neutral or fixed angle of an orthotic joint device independently of other parameters, orthotic joint devices providing staged resistance through staged recruitment of separate springs or initiation of staged spring-rate behavior of a single spring retained in a joint body, adapters for converting non-staged resistance orthotic joint devices into orthotic joint devices, and low-noise orthotic joint devices with intermittent normal force-transmitting contact associated with resistive or assistive forces provided by the devices, and methods of using the devices and components.
Flexible support brace for ankle
An ankle brace. A sleeve is formed of flexible elastic material to conform to the human ankle, with a top opening and a foot opening. A first sleeve portion conforms to the posterior region of the ankle; a second sleeve portion conforms to the anterior region of the ankle; a third sleeve portion conforms to the medial region of the ankle; and a fourth sleeve portion conforms to the lateral region of the ankle. The medial and lateral sleeve portions are formed with an increased volume of flexible elastic material relative to a posterior and anterior sleeve portions.
Extension assist device for an anatomic joint brace
An orthotic brace for an anatomic joint includes an upper brace portion for securement about an upper limb portion of the joint and a lower brace portion pivotally coupled to the upper brace portion for securement about a lower limb portion of the joint. A cable guide is pivotal relative to the lower brace portion and is operative between a working condition fixed for rotation with the upper brace portion relative to the lower brace portion and a released condition in which the upper brace portion pivots independently. A spring is coupled between the lower brace portion and a cable about the cable guide to bias towards an extended position in the working condition of the cable guide. Stops on the guide prescribe the range of biased motion in the working condition and independent stops on the brace portions prescribe the range of unbiased motion in the released condition.
