Upper extremity braces
A brace for restricting the movement of a shoulder joint, the brace including a trunk module attachable to a human body, wherein the trunk module includes a strap for attaching the brace to the body; and at least one first part of a locking mechanism; a forearm module pivotable relative to the trunk module, the forearm module further including a second part of a locking mechanism capable of engaging and disengaging with the at least one first part of the locking mechanism; and a posterior upper arm support attached to the trunk module in a fixed position; wherein in a first orientation the at least one first part of the locking mechanism is engaged with the second part of the locking mechanism; and wherein in a second orientation the at least one first part of the locking mechanism is disengaged from the second part of the locking mechanism.
Sensor and Feedback Platform for Use in Orthotic and Prosthetic Devices
Systems and methods for monitoring/measuring parameters related to the use of devices/systems in various diagnostic/therapeutic applications are provided. The systems/methods communicate monitored/measured parameters to data processing and/or data display units for review and/or responsive action. Modular units may be provided for use with orthotic devices, e.g., arm slings and orthotic boots for foot and lower leg immobilization, and in conjunction with prosthetic devices, e.g., prosthetic arms and/or legs. The sensing/feedback mechanisms may be strap-based, or mounted/associated with webbing, ratchet systems and/or other tensioning mechanisms. The sensing/feedback mechanism may include an inductive sensor that interacts with conductive material embedded in a strap to produce a signal indicating the location of the inductive sensor with respect to the strap. The position sensor may include multiple coils and multiple conductive materials may be imbedded in the strap. The conductive material may define a variable width along the X-axis (as defined by the strap). The inductive sensor may also be used to measure the distance from the coil and a conductive material that interacts with a section of the orthotic or prosthetic device along the z-axis.
Shoulder monitoring and treatment system
A system and method is used to monitor, control, and/or provide feedback relative to one or more factors related to a patient's body, such as a shoulder, pursuant to a treatment process. The system monitors, controls, and/or provides feedback relative to shoulder factors including shoulder motion, shoulder muscle contraction, and external pressure on the shoulder.
Shoulder Abduction Device
A shoulder abduction device having an integral storage compartment includes a block that is padded. A cavity extends into the block from an upper face of the block and is configured to stow an article. Each of opposing endpoints of a strap is selectively couplable to a respective opposing end of the block. The strap is configured to loopedly position around a waist of a user, positioning the opposing endpoints to couple to the block so that the block and the strap are coupled to the user with the block positioned on a side of a torso of the user. The block is configured to abduct a shoulder of the user.
ARM SUPPORT
An arm support for transferring and supporting a force corresponding to at least a portion of the weight of a supported arm. The arm support including a force distribution portion and a support portion. The force distribution portion adapted to conform to the shoulder of the unsupported arm and to distribute the force to the shoulder girdle, while the support portion supports the affected arm. The force distribution portion extends from a first end portion to a second end portion. The support portion extends from a first end portion to a second end portion. The support portion first end portion is located adjacent the force distribution portion second end portion and the support portion second end portion is configured to be adjustably couplable to the force distribution portion first end portion.
Selectively adjustable arm and shoulder support
A contouring arm and shoulder support is provided that is secured to a supporting and stabilizing belt. The support system comprises a belt support and an arm support that are operatively interconnected and yet easily disassociated. The arm support provides dynamic support that allows the patient to move their injured arm if needed.
Shoulder sling and pillow system
A shoulder sling and pillow system that will house a beverage and a cellphone. The system is designed to ergonomically fit around the waist of a user and the system will also allow a cellphone to be charged. The system will use removable straps that will attach to the foam pillow and to the brace of the shoulder sling and pillow system.
ORTHOPEDIC SHOULDER DEVICE
Methods of manufacturing an orthopedic shoulder device is provided. The method includes providing a cradle device configured to receive and support a portion of an arm of a user. The method includes assembling an abduction positioning device by coupling the cradle device to an apex of a flexible arch utilizing a rotation coupling member such that adjusting an amount of curvature of the flexible arch adjusts an angle of abduction of the arm of the user relative to a torso of the user. The method includes providing at least one strap for coupling between at least two locations on the flexible arch such that the amount of curvature of the flexible arch is adjusted by adjusting an amount of the at least one strap coupled between the at least two locations on the flexible arch. Methods of utilizing such an orthopedic shoulder device are also provided.
Method of Rehabilitating an Injured Leg of a Quadruped
A method of rehabilitating an injured leg of a quadruped. The method can include attaching a strap to the foreleg and hindleg on the same side of the quadruped. The strap causes the un-injured leg to applying a moving force to the injured leg. This force moves the injured leg and requires the quadruped to more fully use the injured leg leading to rehabilitation.
