ORTHOPEDIC SHOULDER DEVICE

Methods of manufacturing an orthopedic shoulder device is provided. The method includes providing a cradle device configured to receive and support a portion of an arm of a user. The method includes assembling an abduction positioning device by coupling the cradle device to an apex of a flexible arch utilizing a rotation coupling member such that adjusting an amount of curvature of the flexible arch adjusts an angle of abduction of the arm of the user relative to a torso of the user. The method includes providing at least one strap for coupling between at least two locations on the flexible arch such that the amount of curvature of the flexible arch is adjusted by adjusting an amount of the at least one strap coupled between the at least two locations on the flexible arch. Methods of utilizing such an orthopedic shoulder device are also provided.

A therapeutic orthopedic device is described. The orthopedic device serves to restrain and limit movement of a human arm and shoulder. The device comprises a torso pillow, a padded forearm support attached to the pillow and a shoulder strap that traverses the clavicle region of the opposite shoulder. The pillow is positioned to rest against the torso of a user and the strap is positioned over the opposite shoulder. The forearm support acts as a shelf upon which the user's forearm may rest in a natural position. Flexible straps extend from the forearm support, over the user's forearm, and engage with the pillow to secure the forearm.

SHOULDER IMMOBILIZER AND ARM APPARATUS

A shoulder immobilizer and arm apparatus are provided for enhanced comfort and ease of use for rehabilitating a shoulder. The shoulder immobilizer includes a double figure-9 strap configuration to support the weight of an injured arm and shoulder comfortably. The shoulder immobilizer can be stepped down for modular construction and use depending on a user's needs. The shoulder immobilizer may be configured to cooperate with a corresponding arm apparatus, including an open-frame sling allowing for elbow extension and a simplified strap configuration.

A shoulder and arm support for supporting either the left shoulder and arm or the right shoulder and arm of a patient. The support includes a case which has a shoulder strap secured thereto and a body strap secured thereto. The case has an interior compartment in which a resilient cushion and an air inflatable bladder are positioned. The case includes an outer panel which is pivotally secured to the upper panel of the case and which is pivotally movable between first and second positions. The inflation of the bladder causes the outer panel to be moved from its first position to its second position. The exterior surface of the upper panel has a plurality of arm straps adjustably positioned thereon.
