Rotation and abduction device for shoulder immobilization
Methods, systems, and apparatus regarding a Rotation & Abduction Device (RAD) for shoulder immobilization in treating shoulder instability, wherein the ability to maintain particular degrees of shoulder rotation and abduction is desired or necessary. An exemplary RAD shoulder immobilization system may include: a frame; a harness connected to the frame and including a waist support and a neck/shoulder strap; a sling connected to the frame and the harness; and a lining covering parts of the frame, the harness, and/or the sling. A method of treating a shoulder disorder may include: providing a shoulder immobilization system capable of shoulder rotation positioning adjustment and capable of shoulder abduction-adduction positioning adjustment; putting the shoulder immobilization system on a wearer; adjusting the shoulder immobilization system for shoulder rotation positioning; and adjusting the shoulder immobilization system for shoulder abduction-adduction positioning. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Selectively adjustable arm and shoulder support
A contouring arm and shoulder support is provided that is secured to a supporting and stabilizing belt. The support system comprises a belt support and an arm support that are operatively interconnected and yet easily disassociated. The arm support provides dynamic support that allows the patient to move their injured arm if needed.
SHOULDER IMMOBILIZER AND FRACTURE STABILIZATION DEVICE
A shoulder immobilizer (20) includes a semi-rigid or rigid orthosis, in the form of an arm support (22), which supports the upper arm, elbow, forearm and wrist of a patient. A bolster (24) is positioned between the patient and the arm support (22). A body strap (26) extends around the patient and attaches to the arm support (22) and/or the bolster (24), holding the arm support and bolster in position against the body of the patient. In embodiments, the shoulder immobilizer (20) may utilize a shoulder strap (28), but such a shoulder strap is not necessary for shoulder immobilization of the patient.
UPPER EXTREMITY BRACES
A brace for restricting the movement of a shoulder joint, the brace including a trunk module attachable to a human body, wherein the trunk module includes a strap for attaching the brace to the body; and at least one first part of a locking mechanism; a forearm module pivotable relative to the trunk module, the forearm module further including a second part of a locking mechanism capable of engaging and disengaging with said first part of the locking mechanism; and a posterior upper arm support attached to the trunk module in a fixed position; wherein in a first orientation the at least one first part of the locking mechanism is engaged with the second part of the locking mechanism; and wherein in a second orientation the at least one first part of the locking mechanism is disengaged from the second part of the locking mechanism.
POSITIONING WEDGE
A positioning wedge is arranged as an interface between two anatomical portions of a human body to arrange the anatomical two portions at a predetermined angle or position relative to one another. The positioning wedge includes a main body having first and second sides connected to another by a bridge portion such that the first and second sides each define a predetermined angular profile. An insert can be arranged between the first and second sides to position the first and second sides relative to one another at a predetermined angle associated with the shape of the insert combined with the first and second sides. The insert is separable from, and attachable to the main body and the bridge portion extends over an end portion of the insert.
Shoulder immobilizer and arm apparatus
A shoulder immobilizer and arm apparatus are provided for enhanced comfort and ease of use for rehabilitating a shoulder. The shoulder immobilizer includes a double figure-9 strap configuration to support the weight of an injured arm and shoulder comfortably. The shoulder immobilizer can be stepped down for modular construction and use depending on a user's needs. The shoulder immobilizer may be configured to cooperate with a corresponding arm apparatus, including an open-frame sling allowing for elbow extension and a simplified strap configuration.
Device for immobilizing a shoulder
A device immobilizes a shoulder joint and associated upper arm and forearm of a human patient in a selected relative position. The device comprises a platform including a planar base portion and a pair of opposed parallel side walls extending upwardly from the longitudinal edges of the base portion. The platform supportively receives and at least partially encloses the forearm of the patient. A mount defining a terminal slot is integral with at least one side wall. A belt is provided for securing around the waist of the patient. A belt clip attaches between the belt at a side of the body corresponding to the shoulder to be supported and the platform. The belt clip includes a lug projecting outwardly from the clip and corresponding in size and shape to the terminal slot for insertion into the slot, wherein the platform is suspended from the belt.
Device for supporting at least one arm
A device for supporting at least one arm of a user, wherein: the device has at least one arm-supporting element comprising an arm shell for placing on the arm, at least one passive actuator which is configured to apply a force to the at least one arm-supporting element, and at least one counter bearing for the force to be applied, with at least one force transmission element and a counter bearing element; the arm-supporting element is connected to the force transmission element via an articulation so as to be pivotable about at least one pivot axis; the device additionally has at least one restraining element which limits a movement of the arm shell along the arm towards the hand when the device is worn, but does not affect a movement of the arm shell in the opposite direction; and the at least one restraining element is designed to be flexible but inelastic, and/or has at least one portion which extends in an axillary manner.
Arm support apparatus
The arm brace supports an injured arm during rehabilitation. The arm brace has a wrap member, an arm support member, and an arm sleeve member. The wrap member is secured around a hip and a thigh of a user. The arm support member is secured to a side of the wrap member with couplings including V straps. This configuration provides a platform structure that supports the arm sleeve that partially surrounds and protects the forearm. The arm brace does not require a shoulder strap, a neck strap for support and any other upper body supports. The brace provides a stable support structure that immobilizes the arm regardless of the position of the patient. The hand extends out from a front end of the brace so the user can perform activities such as eating, typing, and grasping.
