Preventing human infant occipital plagiocephaly
A method and orthotic for treating, substantially preventing, or minimizing the possibility of, human infant occipital plagiocephaly and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), utilizes or provides a garment dimensioned to fit a human infant. The garment (such as a vest or jacket) has an open top portion, a substantially closed front, a substantially closed rear, a first receptacle on the front, and a second receptacle on the rear and functionally cooperating with the first receptacle. Third and fourth receptacles are preferably also provided, the first and second receptacles on the left side of the garment, and the third and fourth on the right side. The garment may be primarily of a stretchable mesh fabric. A cylindrical or prismatic bolster (e. g. of firm foam or rubber) is provided in each of the first and second receptacles. The garment is placed on a human infant; and then the infant is laid on her/his side on a surface so that the bolsters substantially preclude the infant from rolling from her/his side onto her/his face or back on the surface.
Tissue retention systems and methods
A tissue retention belt for maintaining tissue in a position that permits access to a body portion of a patient for a medical procedure includes a first anchor zone, a second anchor zone, and a tension zone. The tension zone extends between the first anchor zone and the second anchor zone and defines a tension axis that extends in a direction of loading to be applied to retained tissue. The tension zone may include an auxiliary anchor zone that includes a removable non-adhesive and an adhesive surface configured to adhere to a patient's skin and provide auxiliary anchoring for maintaining tissue in position.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EFFECTIVE POSTURE OF A SUBJECT
Systems and methods for effecting posture of a subject who is to be positioned on a support surface having an inclinable portion such that the subject's thorax is inclinable relative to the subject's legs, are provided. An example system includes a detachedly coupleable thoracic harness having at least an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface being contoured to fit over shoulders of the subject. The outer surface having a fastening surface that releasable attaches to a corresponding fastening surface disposed on the inclinable portion of the support surface.
Patient stabilization and securing device for robotic and laparoscopic surgeries in trendelenburg position
The present application is directed to a method and system for restraining a patient before, during, or after surgery that increases efficiency of the surgical setup process and minimizes risk of musculoskeletal damage to the patient, particularly in surgeries requiring a patient to be in a Trendelenburg position (e.g., robotic or laparoscopic surgeries). One or more restraints can be worn by a patient prior to surgery', and may function to redistribute the patient's weight across the patient's torso to reduce strain on the patient's shoulders and back. The restraint(s) can be attached to a surgical table by way of an attachment mechanism coupled to the restraint(s) and the table. The attachment mechanism can secure the patient to the table by way of one or more straps, clips, and/or other intermediates. Optionally, the restraint(s) can fulfill other surgical needs, such as heat regulation and vascular compression.

Protective vest device and related method thereof
A protective vest device that will adequately secure an infant from the ability to self-dislodge medical life-sustaining supply lines or equipment, while also supporting proper body alignment. The protective device mitigates self-dislodgement while allowing for free movement and proper alignment of infant's arms and hands and which are allowed to touch one another, thereby not inhibiting the ability to explore and expand brain development through tactile stimulation and therefore fostering healthy neuronal pathways of the infant. The fostering healthy neuronal pathways is provided by, for example, allowing the hands to touch one another as the infant develops a sense of where it is in space and time as it continues to grow outside of the womb. By maintaining proper body alignment of infant in the device and the configuration of the device, the device supports healthy musculoskeletal development with a stretchy womb like material to mimic the spring back effect of the uterine wall when a fetus pushes against a uterus.
Apparatuses for supporting a person in an upright position
Disclosed herein are apparatuses for supporting a person in an upright position while sleeping or resting in a bed such that the person can avoid sliding down into a horizontal position as a result of natural forces of gravity and normal movement during sleep. According to an aspect, an apparatus includes a harness configured to hold a person, an anchor to secure the harness to a bed, and a tether having one end connected to the harness and another end connected to the anchor. The anchor can include a support member and an insert extending from the support member such that the upper surface of the insert comes into contact with a mattress and the lower surface of the insert comes into contact with a bed-base. The insert can be positioned underneath the mattress and on top of the bed-base.
Infant Limited Movement Restrainer Device
A restraining device that limits the movement of an infant or child while undergoing medical procedures and/or treatment. In use, the restraining device is placed on a hospital or treatment bed and secured to the bed using a plurality of straps, the infant is then placed on top of the restraining device with each arm of the infant being placed through a hole in the restraining device, the respective holes reduced in size to secure each arm within the hole of the restraining device while simultaneously permitting or allowing each arm to freely move, albeit with some limitation, under the restraining device and the bed
FALL-PREVENTION FUNCTIONAL LIMITATION DEVICE
A system for one or more of avoiding and preventing bedridden people from falling. The system includes a bed and a fall-prevention functional limitation device adapted to be wrapped around the bedridden patient. The fall-prevention functional limitation device includes a long smock provided with a cape and two pairs of side bands, an upper pair placed at the lateral ends of the cape and a lower pair placed in the lower part of the smock, respectively. Both pairs of side bands include the respective bands in mirroring position with respect to the longitudinal plane of symmetry of the fall-prevention functional limitation device itself, which is also provided with a hole for the passage of the patient's head.
