ULTRASONICALLY DETECTABLE INTRAUTERINE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENHANCING ULTRASOUND DETECTION
The present invention relates to ultrasonically detectable intrauterine systems and to a method for enhancing ultra-sound detection of these systems. An intrauterine sys-tem having an inert metal coating on at least part of the body of the intrauterine system or at least one inert metal clip, pin, ring or sleeve fixedly positioned on the body of the intrauterine system is described.
Intrauterine device with retrieval thread
An intrauterine contraceptive system may include a contraceptive intrauterine device, a retrieval thread permanently attached to the intrauterine device and an insertion device for inserting the intrauterine device into a uterus. The system may also include a release thread releasably coupled with the intrauterine device. The intrauterine device may be deployable out of a distal end of the insertion device and may be configured to change from a delivery configuration when housed in the insertion device to a deployed configuration when deployed in a uterus. The retrieval thread and the optional release thread may be at least partially housed within the insertion device during insertion of the intrauterine device into the uterus. The release thread may extend from the intrauterine device through the insertion device to an attachment point at or near a proximal end of the insertion device.
Packaging systems for implantable devices and related methods
A tray for securing an implantable device to a carrier member includes a slot configured to retain the carrier member and a receptacle adjacent the slot. The carrier member surrounds a shaft of the implantable device. The receptacle has a first width at a proximal end of the receptacle to receive first and second arms of the implantable device in an initial state in which the first and second arms extend substantially perpendicularly from the shaft. The receptacle has a second width at a distal end of the receptacle for receiving the first and second arms of the implantable device in a collapsed state in which the first and second arms are folded against the shaft such that the carrier member can be slid over the first and second arms to retain the first and second arms. The second width is less than the first width.
INSERTER
The invention relates to an inserter for an intrauterine system, comprising a handle (3) having a longitudinal opening (8) at its first end, said opening (8) having a longitudinal axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the inserter, a first end (8a) and a second end (8b), a moveable slider (5) arranged in said longitudinal opening (8) and having a first end (5a) and a second end (5b), a plunger (2) attached to the handle (3), an insertion tube (6) arranged around the plunder (2) having a first end and a second end, with its second end attached to the slider (5), wherein the inserter further comprises locking means for reversibly locking the intrauterine system in relation to the plunder (2) via a removal string of the intrauterine system, said locking means being controllable by the slider (5) and/or the insertion tube (6).
IUD INSERTION DEVICE
An insertion device for an IUD. The insertion device comprises an introducer having an elongate hollow body and a first end and a second end, the hollow body defining an elongate passageway extending from the first end to the second end and defining openings at the first end and the second end, and a pusher provided or configured to be provided inside the elongate passageway such that the pusher is movable through or along the passageway. The passageway is sized to accommodate an IUD such that the IUD is slidable along the passageway. Further, the second end of the introducer that abuts the fundus of the uterus in use is configured to have an increased surface area relative to prior art devices so as to reduce the risk of injury, including perforation of the uterus.
IUD loading devices and methods for inserting an IUD into an insertion device
Disclosed are devices and methods for loading an intrauterine device (IUD) with a thread or suture engaged therewith into an insertion device. The devices and methods are suitable for use with an automated knot tying system.
IMPLANT FOR SCREENING TEST OF OVARIAN CANCER, SCREENING TEST KIT COMPRISING SAME, AND OVARIAN CANCER SCREENING TEST METHOD USING SAME
The present invention relates to an implant, an ovarian cancer screening test kit comprising same, and an ovarian cancer screening test method using same, thereof wherein the implant is mounted in the uterine cavity so that the working channel maintain a path from the cervix to the fallopian tube for a predetermined period. According to the implant for screening test of ovarian cancer, the screening test kit comprising same, and the ovarian cancer screening test method using same of the present invention, the implant mounted in the uterus can be used to execute the screening test, can simply carry out periodically repeated screening tests to improve the convenience and minimize discomfort for the patient, and can allow both cystoscopy and biopsy.
INSTRUMENT TO PREPARE AND SAFELY PLACE AN INTRA-UTERINE DEVICE
An instrument (10) to prepare and safely place an intra-uterine device (30) in uterus (50) of a woman, comprising a dynamic stopper (20), a string management arrangement (110) whereby a string (31) of an IUD (30) is in one of a locked condition or an unlocked condition, an operating device (100), further comprising a base (70), a cover (90) a carriage (140), wherein the dynamic stopper (20) slidably resides in the base (70) and can slide by the sliding length (23), wherein the string (31) exits from an outpoint (87) and re-enters from an inpoint (88), the outpoint (87) is at a trim length (46) and the inpoint (88) is at a conservative length (47).
