Portable therapeutic system using hot or cold temperature
Disclosed is a system which employs a cooling or heating pad which is preferably a thin, flexible pad for placement at an intended area of the body. The pad includes a layer of highly conductive material which can be cooled or heated using a portable source of heat or cold material delivered to the conductive material by a delivery conduit. Valves can be included to regulate flow of the cooling or heating material from the source to the pad. The system can also include a dual-chambered canister for containing two different media for heating, cooling or for alternating heating and cooling the pad.
COLD SLURRY CONTAINMENT
The present invention provides methods and devices for controlling a cold slurry that is delivered to a target tissue and for limiting heat transferring from surrounding tissue to the target tissue. In particular, a balloon structure is deployed at or near a point of delivery to act as a physical and/or thermal barrier. In some instances, the balloon structure can act as a pressure device obstructing the flow of warm blood into a treatment area, which can melt the cold slurry.
KNITTED THERMAL CIRCUIT SYSTEM
A multi-layer pad for monitoring a patient includes first and second knitted fabric layers. The first knitted fabric layer includes first and second non-conductive bands and a first conductive strip that extend in a first direction. The first conductive strip is between the first and second non-conductive bands and is in contact with a power source. The second knitted fabric layer includes third and fourth non-conductive bands and a second conductive strip that extend in a second direction. The second conductive strip is between the third and fourth non-conductive bands and is in contact with the power source. A spacer is between the first and second knitted fabric layers. An impermeable cover layer encompasses the knitted fabric layers and the spacer. Upon application of force to the multi-layer pad, the first conductive strip is configured to move into close proximity with the second conductive strip and complete an electrical circuit.
Weighted Gel Blanket for Targeted Temperature Management Systems
Disclosed herein a blanket apparatus and systems and methods pertaining to the same. The blanket includes a body portion formed of fabric, wherein the fabric is elastomer or elastomer-based and a first pocket within the body portion and surrounded by the fabric, wherein the first pocket is an enclosed area filled with an insulative material, and wherein the blanket is configured to be placed on at least a first thermal pad of a targeted temperature management (TTM) system, wherein the first pocket is configured to provide a weight on top of the first thermal pad. The insulative material may be an insulative gel, paste or granular material. In some instances, a length of the first pocket is substantially an entirety of a length of the blanket. Additionally, in some instances, a width of the first pocket is substantially an entirety of a width of the blanket.
