COOLING SLEEVE AND TOURNIQUET
A cooling tourniquet system (100) includes a cooling component (110) with a tourniquet (112) at a proximal end and a control component (130). The cooling component includes a cooling pad (120) configured to be wrapped about an extremity, and a cover (111) that wraps around the cooling pad. An inner surface of the cooling pad includes one or more sensors for detecting the temperature of the extremity. The tourniquet is configured to be applied to the extremity to stop blood flow distally from the tourniquet. The control component receives temperature data from the sensors, and controls the cooling pad based on the received data rapidly cooling the extremity at depth, without causing frostbite tissue damage. In one embodiment the control component circulates a chilled fluid with a time-varying temperature profile through passages in the cooling pad. In an embodiment the cover includes an air bladder that holds the cooling pad in contact against the extremity.
Targeted Temperature Management Systems, Pads, and Methods Thereof
Disclosed are systems, pads, and methods for targeted temperature management. For example, a pad can include a multilayered pad body, a pad inlet connector, and a pad outlet connector. The pad body can include a conduit layer and a patient-interfacing layer over the conduit layer. The conduit layer can include one or more conduits configured to convey a temperature-controlled fluid as a supply fluid from a hydraulic system and a return fluid back to the hydraulic system. The patient-interfacing layer can be configured for placement on a portion of a patient's body. The patient-interfacing layer can have a patient-facing side including a plurality of wells configured to hold a thermally conductive medium. The pad inlet connector can include a pad inlet configured for charging the conduit layer with the supply fluid. The pad outlet connector can include a pad outlet configured for discharging the return fluid from the conduit layer.
REINFORCED THERAPEUTIC WRAP AND METHOD
A therapy wrap for treatment of at least a portion of an animate body having improved kink resistance. The therapy wrap may be selectively reinforced for improved kink resistance in only a portion of the wrap. The reinforcement may decrease the kink radius. The wrap may include a kink reducer in all or only a selected kink-prone region. The kink reducer may be selectively configured attachment points or spot welds. The therapy wrap may include a reinforcement layer of one or more discrete reinforcement members. The wrap may be formed by pre-tensioning the material layers while forming the fluid bladder and/or gas pressure bladder. The therapy wrap may be adapted to compensate for conditions that normally cause kinking of the wrap or buckling of the fluidic channels. Also disclosed are methods of manufacturing the wrap and methods of administering a temperature-controlled treatment to an anatomical body part.
