Systems, devices and methods are provided to deliver microporation medical treatments to improve biomechanics, wherein the system includes a laser for generating a beam of laser radiation on a treatment-axis not aligned with a patient's visual-axis, operable for use in subsurface ablative medical treatments to create an array pattern of micropores that improves biomechanics. The array pattern of micropores is at least one of a radial pattern, a spiral pattern, a phyllotactic pattern, or an asymmetric pattern.
Restoration of accommodation by lens refilling
A method for refilling a lens of an eye or increasing the elasticity of a lens of an eye includes removing a central portion of the lens core through the eye's cornea, a capsulorhexis in the eye's lens capsule and a gullet extending at least partially through the cortex of the lens. The lens is then refilled with a synthetic lens material. Sufficient lens core is left in place so that the synthetic material is not in contact with a lens capsule of the eye. The synthetic material used for refilling may be selected and may be formed in a shape and thickness so as to affect the refractive characteristics of the lens. An endocapsular lenticule may be inserted in the lens to affect the refractive characteristics of the lens.

A system for ophthalmic surgery on an eye includes: a pulsed laser which produces a treatment beam; an OCT imaging assembly capable of creating a continuous depth profile of the eye; an optical scanning system configured to position a focal zone of the treatment beam to a targeted location in three dimensions in one or more floaters in the posterior pole. The system also includes one or more controllers programmed to automatically scan tissues of the patient's eye with the imaging assembly; identify one or more boundaries of the one or more floaters based at least in part on the image data; iii. identify one or more treatment regions based upon the boundaries; and operate the optical scanning system with the pulsed laser to produce a treatment beam directed in a pattern based on the one or more treatment regions.
Systems and methods for affecting the biomechanical properties of connective tissue

Apparatus for individual therapy planning and positionally accurate modification of an optical element
A method for detecting structures within an optical element of an eye and processing the optical element as a function of the detected structures includes acquiring, by a detection device, geometric data of an eye, transferring, by the detection device, the geometric data of the eye to a controller, calculating, by the controller, target coordinates for a processing device including a laser, the processing device being connected to the controller, and applying a beam produced by the laser to the eye according to the target coordinates calculated by the controller so as to process the optical element.
Methods and systems to provide excluded defined zones for increasing accommodative amplitude
Systems and methods for increasing the amplitude of accommodation of an eye, changing the refractive power of lens material of a natural crystalline lens of the eye, and addressing presbyopia are is provided. Generally, there are provided methods and systems for delivering a laser beam to a lens of an eye in a plurality of laser shots, which are in precise and predetermined patterns results in the weakening of the lens material.
Ophthalmological laser system and operating method
A polarization beam splitter selectively decouples detection light onto a detector such that it has a polarization direction that differs from the emitted illumination light. This enables the detection of the light scattered back in the eye lens at a high level of accuracy, since stray light from reflections at optical components of the light path is suppressed. In the generating of photo disruptions or other incisions, the ray exposure of the retina may be reduced in that the incisions being furthest away from the laser are induced first such that laminar gas inclusions with an existence duration time of at least 5 seconds result. In this manner the laser radiation propagated in the direction of the retina in further incisions are scattered and partially reflected such that the influence impinging upon the retina is reduced.
Device and method for producing control data for the surgical correction of defective eye vision
A device for producing control data for a laser device for the surgical correction of defective vision. The device produces the control data such that the laser emits the laser radiation such that a volume in the cornea is isolated. The device calculates a radius of curvature R.sub.CV* to determine the control data, the cornea reduced by the volume having the radius of curvature R.sub.CV* and the radius of curvature being site-specific and satisfying the following equation: R.sub.CV*(r,)=1/((1/R.sub.CV(r,))+B.sub.COR(r,)/(n.sub.c1))+F, wherein R.sub.CV(r,) is the local radius of curvature of the cornea before the volume is removed, n.sub.c is the refractive index of the material of the cornea, F is a coefficient, and B.sub.COR(r,) is the local change in refractive force required for the desired correction of defective vision in a plane lying in the vertex of the cornea, and at least two radii r1 and r2 satisfy the equation B.sub.COR(r=r1,)B.sub.COR(r=r2,).
